Taken from Habs boards

...might Erick(unfortunately) get his wish from the other thread? I'd sooner trade for Brennan than ANYONE MTL would be willing to give.

Desharnais? Seriously? Do we really need to get smaller and softer?

I like the guy offensively but we need more size. I'm sure he's lightyears ahead of Versteeg though so anything to get rid of that black hole. DD is another playmaker though....

Need net presence. THAT'S ALL. That alone would tie it all together IMO.

Hmm. Our whipping boy for theirs? It's probably the best that can be done atm.

I'd do that trade.

Doubt that Tallon is interested in DD. Suspect that the goal is to unload vets for prospects and picks consistent with the rebuild time-table, which looks like 2015-16 at this point.

If the window is really 2 years then Kopecky, Bergenheim, Flash and every vet on an expiring contract is likely available at the right price.

Anything to get rid of Versteeg, I'd do it in a second.

DD has been worse than Versteeg and has 3 more years left on his contract. Why the hell would you want that trade. He's also smaller and softer than Versteeg no thanks I am sick and tired of this team being soft get someone who will bang bodies and go to the front of the net. The Hab's board thread was entertaining though especially when they were trying to get Guds' Bjugstad, or Kulikov out of DD +.

DD is horrible. we have lack of wingers, versteeg is a winger.

steeger just needs to find his mojo, i still think he's a good player. its really unfair how much hate some players get here, but it might be tad bit relevant here.

sit him a game or two, force him to realize his position on this team isn't guaranteed and he'll start produce.

DD on the other hand... no. can't play bottom 6 if so his life depended on it.

would also prevent us from bjugstad getting 2C for the next 3-4 years or whatever it is

Makes no sense that we would trade for a guy that we let go on waivers.. no chance..

I don't really care if he's what we need, Desharnais is an upgrade on Versteeg.

he's a center and steeger is a winger. if we can move DD to wing, maybe.

however, i don't think DD is the answer in 3 years when we have multiple centers ready for 2C, but DD is too bad as bottom 6

I know, but we can move DD to 4th line when Bjugstad and Trocheck are ready to pass him on the depth chart. He's not a good bottom 6 guy by any means, but he'd hopefully get minimal minutes at that point. Right now, DD is better than Versteeg. He doesn't constantly give the puck to the other team, and he's good in shootouts.

Makes just as much sense to snag a current Hab.

No its doesn't. IF they really liked him, they would never have let him go. What have changed in the last few months? Nothing.

I'd rather have Kuba. At least in Kuba's case, you know he sucks and he can't do anything about it. Versteeg sucks on purpose. He's a lazy diva who doesn't give a damn. Commit mistakes and it doesn't matter because he has a cool mouthpiece in his mouth. He will always be Verbeauty so it doesn't matter to him. And Verbeauty never has his ice time diminished because he makes too much money for a very long time.

Jovo is coming back soon. You could be wrong! Honestly I hope Jovo can come back and bring "something" to the team. I think you can agree Gilbert hasn't been better than an aging Jovo.

At least Jovo is trying. He just has nothing left in the tank.

Versteeg does this on purpose. When was the last time you've seen a player consistently pass up scoring chances to skate backwards and throw backhanded shots at the net? He's so annoying.
