This. Some still can't shake that Halak trade blues it seems.

Dude was a mid first rounder and has done nothing but improve since being with us. He's legit.

Top 15 scoring in NHL legit? Not likely(I still can't call his ceiling though) but he's a top 6 centre at worst. A very good one.

Mind you if he centers Galchenyuk and Gallagher all year, he very well could put up huge points. Way too much talent mixed with first class work ethic on that line.

He wasn't a mid first rounder, he was a high one. Had he been swede, finn, american or canadian he would've been top 10.

I think a healthy dose of tempered expectations is definitely a good thing, but one thing i noticed from the Philly game was that when Laviolette switched the matchup to have Giroux out there against the EGG line, the kids absolutely took it to them and kept dominating.

Lars and the real gals aren't going to dominate every game like they have the first few, but the things they have done so far have been extremely encouraging. To wit:

- Eller burning Gardiner (one of Toronto's best and fastest skaters) for the SH goal in game one.
- Their tenacious forecheck and willingness to drive the net on every shift
- Getting meaningful powerplay time and responding with effective passing, good traffic in front of the net, and, eventually, a beauty goal on a 5-3
- Galchenyuk upping his physical game, playing the body, and retrieving pucks in the corner
- Eller's puck control, and ability to create something out of nothing through sheer strength
- Putting up 11 combined shots in the Philly game

It's hard not to get excited about what we've seen from them thusfar. The whole line is playing well, and it starts with Eller who has looked like the best player on the ice for almost every shift he's been out there this season.

I'm excited to see what they can do against two more defensively iffy teams in Edmonton and Calgary.

I never knew Giroux, and Hartnell were 3rd liners.

Better then DD taking every f'ing offensive face off and losing it.

Eller is going to finish top 5 in scoring for the Habs as long as he gets the ice time.

Winning is not the #1 thing. They want to win THEIR way.....even if it means they're handicapping themselves.

DD is basically 33/33/33.

I know he was on Ottawa radio this morning and briefly mentioned his name when the hosts asked him about Halak
By now I think the Blues are wondering whether they overpaid for Halak. It was not a trade that benefited both teams equally. MB would saw off the little finger on his left hand rather than reverse it.

He was a mid rounder. He wasn't top 10, it's taken him till he is 24 to get attention as a true top 6 player. Most top 10 picks are in the top 6 by 22. He had first round talent but it took a while to develop, hence being drafted in the middle as opposed to top 10.

A lot of people have wanted Eller to play in the top 6 for a long time. He's had to play on the bottom lines with grinders for quite some time. Would he have progressed faster? Who knows, but it would have been a different upbringing. Maybe for the worse, maybe for the better. Can't say.

He was drafted 13th overall as a player who had the no visibility...

He then made the AHL and was pretty good one year later ... He always had high potential.

Incredible work as always, MiG

My girlfriend will especially get a kick out of it, considering she's a pretty big fan of the Hellboy universe, namely the BPRD comics.

so excited that we got Eller. Wow! This is a pretty good trade!! Super happy right now.

Just a little tid-bit for those who don't know Eller, he is not soft.

I couldn't disagree with you more , first of all he went 13th , if you actually think there is that huge of a drop off between players 9-10 and players 13-14 you are mistaken. Show me where most top 10 players establish themselves by 22 years old (this is only something seen by top 5 talent and not always at that).

At 22 he showed nice progression by getting 16 goals on the 3rd line with almost no pp time. 23 years old 2012-2013 season and he has a coming out party still with top 9 minutes and some pp time.

More likely scenario is the other way around , especially if Eller puts up 65+ pts he could ask for 4.5-5M.

I'm guessing Bergevin will start the negotiations pretty early with Eller.

Unless he lowballs and offers 3M x 2 yrs (another bridge to UFA , which imo is a dangerous game). Most likely they settle at 12M for 3 years and we don't resign Gionta.

If he puts up that many points maybe MB will give him the same deal as Pacioretty? 6 years at 4.5 million per year.

18 points in his last 16 regular season games. And not fluky, he plays a solid two way game. I honestly can see him blowing up this year. 60-65 points isn't a reach at this point.

Not sure 3 years is the length they'll go for.
