Bang for Buck

of all the free agent signings which team or player represents the most bang for your buck?

Can't beat Florida as a team:

Boyes $1M
Gomez $900k
Gilbert $900k
Whitney $900k
Thomas $3.75M

With all those signings I still gotta give it to TO for the Raymond signing $1M

Isn't Bang property of Nashville? Who has Buck?

That's exactly what I thought when I saw that title!

If it's only for signings from this off season then probably Boedker, if it includes other off seasons, Vrbata.

$3.0m for a 25+ goal scorer who is sound defensively?!? Hes kind of the Phoenix Pascal Dupuis. Now if we can extend him for 4 years/3.75 million we are set.

Mason Raymond... I don't love him, but look at other players who signed at that amount and compare...

It's kind of funny that TML made a great signing in Raymond, and did a good job on inking Kadri to a reasonable bridge, then made the worst signing of the offseason with Clarkson (alongside Clowe with NJD).

If Jonesuu continues playing like he did in this first game, he has to be up there.

Raymond can bring 20g+ 40p+, at 1mill, that's robbery.

If Santo can show half of what he's shown so far this preseason, I'd like to throw his name out there. League minimum...granted its for an energy line guy, at best third line, but he's looked great in preseason, and we have him reunited with his old 20 goal scoring buddy from Florida, Booth.

Raymond for 1 million isn't bad, Florida's panoply of late free agents is enviable as well, Jonesuu for Edmonton, Vrbata from Phoenix and Hansen for Vancouver are all stand outs to me as well.

Clarkson... As in Nonis is going to be banging his head on a table for giving him 5.25 million bucks.

If Thomas is even close to what he used to be then it is easily him and it's not close. Paying $1 million for a $2.5 million player is not the same as paying under $4 million for a top 5 goaltender. Goaltenders have a much bigger effect on a game than a 3rd liner does.

For the Ducks, Penner obviously still has a chance to bring a very good amount of bang for his $2M bucks. But then again, there's also a pretty good chance that won't happen.

I would really not be too certain about that just yet. Obviously, with those contracts all being so cheap, there's definite potential, but you really have to wait and see whether they're going to bring the actual bang. It's not entirely coincidence that these guys ended up signing for that, or in some instances had to go through try-outs, and in one instance were released from such elsewhere.

I think you're going to be veeeery disappointed if you think Thomas is a top 5 goaltender on Florida.

If Joensuu keeps playing like he did in the pre-season and last night, he might get bumped to the top line. Seriously. He's been our best left winger so far, and that's even with David Perron looking good.

There's no way Nashville gives up a guy like Bang who has the ability to step into the NHL, or at worst be a solid AHLer, for someone like Buck who is an undersized "top 6 or bust" type player that would be way down on their depth charts.
