Help Identifying an Autograph?

I apologize if this isn't the right section for this question, but if so, could someone direct me to a more appropriate forum?

Basically, I was going through a box of old stuff from my childhood while cleaning out a crawlspace and came upon an autographed puck from ages ago. I got the puck a little over 10 years ago (so it's not a really recent player) and it had been my great grandmother's for a long time, prior.

That part of my family is from Quebec, and my great grandmother mentioned, a few times, an uncle or cousin or some other relative who played a few games for Montreal back in the day. I don't know if this autograph is related (or even how old it is.) I just remember her remembering I liked hockey, digging the puck out of a kitchen drawer, and giving it to me. I was like, 11 years old, so I didn't ask questions.

Any insights? It looks like John A. And a last name that begins with a "Z" and the number 8?

I think it's #9 John Paul (Johnny) Bucyk.

That's definitly not an 8 and that would rule out any habs player. Could you possibly give us some kind of timeframe?

The only John A. I can think of is John A. Ziegler Jr.

No it's not, Buzyk wrote his autographs cleanly.

Pretty sure that's "John A. Ziegler Jr."

And I don't believe that's an actual signature, but rather an imprint of the commissioner's signature on the puck.

EDIT: Here's a photo of an NHL puck from that era

Thanks a lot! I never even considered it would just be an imprint. Shows how many pucks I've handled.
