Edm - Col

hey guys first proposal here. don't be to hasty. im not a fan of either team but i think that well this would be a decent trade for both.

Col:
Ales Hemsky:

i know its another winger that the avs dont need. but they could just use him for one year and from what im reading on here looks like paul stastny could be up for trade (use him to trade for a Dman).

Edm:
Steve downie:
Simple. adds toughness to their 3rd line, (PK guy i think), has some scoring touch.

No.

I like Downie, but we don't have the offensive depth right now to make that trade.

And it's also a lowball offer.

The other player you mentioned. He would be of interest. That's a conversation I'd rather have.

no thanks from the avs, we have a relatively soft top 9 if we remove downie from it, plus we have good playmakers and skilled players that can provide a similar role hemsky would provide.

Nailed it!

Downie fits our team much better than Hemsky. We have enough skill and finesse up front.

O'Reilly-Duchene-Downie
Landeskog-Stastny-Tanguay
McGinn-MacKinnon-Parenteau

MacT has already taken Hemsky off the market and even if he never no team is taking on his 5,000,000 with his injury history and his drop in production . Coming from an Oiler fan

No thanks. Avs need Downies grit more than Hemsky's scoring.

Absolutely not. We need what Downie brings a lot more than an overpaid injury prone Hemsky. We missed Downie a lot last season. The OP said it best when he even posted "i know its another winger that the avs dont need".

I'm one of the rare non-Oilers posters that would have some interest in Hemsky, but that was when our team didn't have its top 11-12 forwards set in stone already. Hemsky doesn't bring anything we don't already have, Downie brings grit to our lineup.

Offensively I think they aren't too far apart right now given both have had major injuries recently enough to raise questions about how well they will rebound down the line.

When we had David Jones I'd have swapped him for Hemsky, but we swapped him for Tanguay instead and that appears to have been a fine move for us.

Yeah, we can't afford to lose guys like McGinn or Downie unless it fills a big hole in our roster (defense). We just don't need another finesse forward.

what everyone from Col is saying makes sense, I would love a guy like Downie in Edmonton though.

There's no way we would have done Hemsky for Jones

The Avs already have Tanguay and Parenteau as playmaking right wingers, they don't need Hemsky. Downie is a good enough playmaker and he excels and forechecking and ****-stirring. He makes too much sense.

Downie (5'11 and 190 lbs) dropped the gloves against Dillon (6'3 and 225 lbs) and afterwards said it was good to get into it again after missing so much time with injury lately.

He's a special kind of crazy but fiercely competitive and protective, which makes him more useful than his 40-45 points might suggest.

I'd love Downie on our roster. But I can't see Colorado doing it. Unless they're after any of our spare parts on D as well (Grebeshkov/Potter/Larsen/N Schultz) which is well... not likely given we are going to have to waive one to three of them.

this makes absolutely zero sense in any hypothetical situation imaginable for the Avs

Nope. I cannot see the Avs being interested in a trade like this.

Hell no.

Downie is a major part of this team. The team doesn't need more offense.

We already have our version of Hemsky in Tanguay, but he come 1.5 million cheaper.
