Vancouver-Anaheim and Vancouver-Buffalo

Per Pierre Lebrun
Word is the Ducks are looking for blue-line help with Luca Sbisa and Sheldon Souray out.

My sense is Anaheim would be looking for a young defenseman and would be willing to move a forward in return.

Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Toronto are among the clubs with depth on defense, something to keep an eye on.
--------------------------------
To Vancouver: Emerson Etem and Bryan Allen @50%

To Anaheim: Frank Corrado and Brenden Gaunce

and

To Vancouver: Tomas Vanek @50%

To Buffalo: Nicklas Jensen, David Booth, 1st 2014.

Vanek is a UFA in 2014.

Vancouver lineup:
---------------------
Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Vanek-Kesler-Burrows
Etem-Santorelli-Hansen
Higgins-Richardsson-Dalpe
Weise/Sestito

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-Garisson
Stanton-Tanev
Weber

Lu
Lack

Fair Trades?

Both of these are horrible. Hugely in favour of Vancouver.

They get Jensen 1st and Booth if they want him. If not we have to get them to eat some of Vaneks salary.

And that is just for Vanek. We dont get anything else.

You have already received several negative replies for your proposal of Corrado+Schroeder for Etem in another thread, so I really have no idea what type of feedback you're expecting for this one.

Etem probably has more value than Corrado, but given the disparity between the number of forward prospects and defensive prospects we have, I'd prefer to keep Corrado.

Vanek trade I'd do.

Probably? As of right now Etem holds the greater value hands down!
_______________

I think Vanek is going to create a bidding war between a few teams come TD day. I think teams will be offering up a whole lot more than Jensen + 1st.

Mind you, if Vancouver manages to snag him, look out!

No. No room for him right now in the top 6.

And he was hurt in that collision with Torres. I don't think he even went on the road trip.

Why does Vancouver do the first trade? Anaheim would say no anyway.

The Vanek trade I get, but it's going to take a Kessel-esque offer to pry him away, even if he is a UFA next year.

2014 1st + 2015 1st + 2015 2nd + Eddie Lack <-> Vanek (Buffalo retains 25% salary)?

Pominville got a higher end prospect plus a 1st and he had an extra year left on his contract.

Vanek is a pending UFA. He is a pure rental you think hes going to get DOUBLE that?

Not from Vancouver.

It's what Buffalo would accept, not what we think is a fair price.

I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for this but: the first trade is just as bad for Vancouver as it is for Anaheim.

We cannot afford to trade Corrado no matter what. He's already NHL ready but was sent to the AHL because its better for his development to play 25 mins a night than what he would've gotten in Vancouver.

From a Buffalo perspective all I like is the 1st rounder. I'm not really a big fan of Booth or Jensen so it would be a no for me.

He tweeted that he had his first skate a couple of days ago, but I don't think he's ready to play.

Wouldn't be interested in either deal as a Canucks fan.

I know it's not a popular opinion because of how much emphasis people put on 'pedigree' and junior numbers on these boards, but I see Corrado as nearly equal in value to Etem. Etem's going to be top 6 forward for many years to come and Corrado is going to be a top 4 defenseman for many years to come. Canucks have other blue-chip forward prospects (although not yet at Etem's stage in development) but not any other defensemen with Corrado's potential.

And I'm not interested in spending our future on half a season of Vanek (even though I'm a huge fan). I'm perfectly willing to roll the dice on Jensen - he might not look like much from his hockeydb profile but the kids got the tools to be a great NHLer. We've seen lots of guys with all the tools never put it together and there is a good chance that Jensen might be like that, but it doesn't make sense to sell him with his value so low.

At this point in time, Etem is valued for what he has done in the NHL. What he did in Medicine Hat doesn't matter.

Even if Buffalo eats Vaneks Salary at 50% Vancouver still doesn't have the cap space for him.

That trade makes Anaheims defense worse. Why would they do this?
