I find it funny that Rob Ray was also on that day talking about how you'll never question the effort out of this team. For the most part I agree with him, it's sad though that the one player that's just flat out wrong for is a vet whose supposedly a leader in Stafford. It almost looks like this year is just going to be a continuation of his bad play last season.
Ottawa has a lot to prove before they should be considered having an equal or better line-up than Detroit. It can't be overstated how much of an impact Karlsson can have when he's on top of his game, though.

Benching the Johan the opening night? Soon the Sabres, like the rest of the NHL will LEARN

Agreed. I mean just match up the teams two best forwards. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are far better than Spezza and Ryan. Datsyuk and Zetterberg can just take over and absolutely dominate games. Spezza and Ryan are good players but not on the same level as the other two. This isn't to belittle those two guys or Ottawa's team as a whole, I'm just pointing out that I definitely feel we match up better with the Sens than we do with the Wings.

Is he going to kick Sens in the face barefoot and make them smell his feet?

Can't wait to be at the game tonight! I'm excited to see Larsson in the lineup, and even more excited that Ennis is no longer at center. This season was my last straw with Leino. He's hurt again, he is a waste. I hope we play with more energy tonight, and get the powerplay going. And hopefully the crowd is engaged. LET'S GO BUFFALO!
4-2 Sabres

Hodgson, Vanek, Flynn, Grigorenko
Spezza, Karlsson

Swap Stafford with Foligno and I would be happier about our top line.

This thread needs more Drew Stafford discussion. I'll oblige: Rolston needs to reunite him with Ennis at ES.

Yes he does. Drew in the past has be an effective secondary scorer and has great chemistry with Ennis. Centered by Larsson that could be a nice 2nd line.

Seriously having Ennis at wing make sme so much more optimistic about the game. I hate Ennis at center. I hates it.

I don't hate it. It's just that Larsson is a better Center then he is.

Agreed. I'm less interested in Ennis as a center when we have Larsson in the mix.

I would also add I'm less interested in McCormick as a center with Porter around as well.

It is kind of funny, though, how after Ennis was moved to center, people complained about Ruff and how he didn't know to make the switch sooner. Now everyone wants him back.

I'm not saying you were complaining, just a general thing I noticed, I'm pretty sure it was shoppe and bulldog that were the culprits actually.

I'll be there tonight. First time in 3 years I'll be able to witness a home opener live. I expect very little from anyone. So I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

4-2 Sens

Grigorenko, Ristolainen, or Vanek with a goal

I'm not really sure what your point is here, no offense.

I wanted to see Ennis at center too. Now I've seen it. And he's terrible at it IMO. So now I want him moved back.

That seems pretty reasonable to me.

I hope the crowds good though. I know they aren't doing well but i hate when the crowd comes in mad at the team. Its just a bad atmosphere and isn't fun.

What do you think about Hodgson at center?

As opposed to Hodgson at wing? I've never seen him play wing, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I think Hodgson has the vision and patience to be a good center, but he has some deficiencies as well.

Rolston needs to reunite Stafford with the Press Box to create PBS.

Fair enough. Once you are in the offensive zone, all positions are interchangeable though. It's only in the neutral zone and defensive zone where it matters, and Ennis is superior to Hodgson in both zones. It's why I find these constant calls of Ennis being a brutal center odd.

Well, the average superficial fan will start booing after the first poor PP. That usually happens. No avoiding it. Too many of them. The semi-educated fan will realize this team is full of rookies and sophomores with a mostly rookie NHL coach and new staff. And have patience for the process of developing, growth, and learning from mistakes. But too many who go are of the "I WANT IT NOWWWWW crowd". They snapshot compare shift to shift vs. week to week and see no change. It's like saying you're not growing as a kid because every morning you measure your height against a mark on the wall for a month. Some fans need to measure the team month to month to see any appreciable development.

That's why it will get ugly... All season long.
