Eller vs Turris

Two young 24 year old centers, both off to a good start.

Who would you rather have?

Well hopefully your opinions have changed in that time span.

7 months in "hf years" is like "1000 real life years". usually 3 weeks or so is the acceptable "waiting period" before repeating a poll

Topic? Eller.

Good to know im not breaking any rules for repeating a thread done 7 months ago.

Also i choose Turris, mainly because of his draft pedigree, he was drafted 3rd overall. I think he still has the 3rd overall superstar potential in him somewhere.

I feel like both are going to be mediocre second line centers at best. Too close to call.

Eller by a margin.
Bigger , stronger, better puck possession and defensive play.

I would say one of them is already a very good second line center. While the other is looking to be a very good second line Center. I'm not sure wether you label Eller as a 2 or 3.

Lars Eller is going to be a great 2nd line center IMO.

Eller > Turris.

Eller won't ever get 3rd line minutes anymore. He's a beast, a puck magnet and he's bigger than ever.
He's at least, a very solid number 2 center.

Turris has already shown flashes of being better and so far this season it's looking like he's going to have a big season, so I'm going to go with Turris.

Turris.

Only noticed Eller once last playoffs and it wasn't in a good way. Meanwhile Turris was racking up clutch goals.

He played less than one game before Gryba destroyed him. How was he supposed to make any sort of impression?

Absolutely no logical reason to go with Turris at this point in time.

In 2012/2013, Turris had in average 19:38 minutes of ice time/game, with 2:44 PPTOI/G and 1:25 SHTOI/G. Due to the injury to Spezza, he was basically put in the best possible situation to produce by having plenty of ice time/PP time.

Eller had 14:49 TOI/G on average (almost a whole 5 minutes less per game than Turris), only 0:42 PPTOI/G and played slightly more on the PK, playing on average 1:28 SHTOI/G.

Despite all that, Eller finished with one more point than Turris in two less games while also having a better +/- differential.

Eller was also the 40th ranked center in PPG (some notable names in these waters: Carter, Seguin, M. Richards, Krejci, J. Staal, Marleau, Pavelski, Plekanec...) in the league despite being used as a third line center and is still improving his game constantly as of today. To me, he has the potential to become a very solid two-way 2nd line center and more.

Trying common sense with some homers is a waste of time

Eller.
I consider Turris as a bust, picked 3rd overall but wouldnt be drafted top10 in a draft redo

So Eller was a third line center facing mediocre D? Turris was our first line center with Spezza's injury.

I voted Eller but it's not "AINEC", I think he's a beast but Turris is no slouch either.

Turris was against top lines and top defenders while being great defensively himself.

Eller played against 3rd liners and average dmen.

Right, I forgot how playing 3rd line minutes with Travis Moen or Brandon Prust is actually an advantage for your offensive production.

Also, I'm no advanced stats professional, but here's their Corsi QoC from last season:

Eller -0,355
Turris -0,406

Seems pretty close to me.

If there's someone that knows how to interpret advanced stats, be my guest.
