You have to take the straight up stats with a MASSIVE grain of salt.

Markstrom's only ever played for bad teams, while Lehner's played for Sens teams with SIGNIFICANTLY better defense.

I'd love to have either but I'll give the bare nod to Lehner at this point. Love to see Markstrom on a good team though to see what having confidence would do for his game

I know 5 games is a small sample size, but in 2011-2012 Lehner posted a .935 sv% and a 2.01 gaa. That season Ottawa was 24th in goals against. Markstrom played 7 games that year and had a .923 sv% and 2.66 gaa while Florida was 12th in goals against.

And in 2010-2011 Lehner played 8 games with a rather unimpressive 3.52 gaa and 0.888 sv% the sens were 25th in goals against that year. So it's not like he has been playing behind the leagues best defense every game.

Not sure what you're talking about, the Sens best Dman can't play D.

He is known for being in the offensive zone quite a bit more than the defensive zone.

Whatever you want to call that. Although not sure about the guys argument in the first place.

Markstrom was more highly valued in juniors and in his draft year but Lehner looks like the next Rask, Markstrom looks to become a good number 1 in the future but not elite.

Lehner AINEC.

A year ago, Markstrom. Now, Lehner.
