@DarrenDreger: TSN has learned Claude Noel has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets. Assistant, Perry Pearn also let go. #TSN

They put Noel out of his misery. Should be an interesting day today.

Let the hunger games begin.

I hope they take their time in finding the next coach. This year is a write off.

Interesting times. I feel bad for Noel as a person, as he honestly seems like a nice guy, but with the season a write off, probably for the best for the team. IMHO: everyone, including our Captain, have been "off" as of late.

So does Vincent or Huddy take over?

necessary move (now or later). Hopefully he lands on his feet - it's never fun seeing someone lose a job.

Well, something had to give.. I wonder if we see McCambridge as an interim or something like that.

Also should be noted that I am very happy this happened prior to a Carlyle firing, assuming that's actually going to happen of course.

Could see it coming. Team getting worse. Playing worse. Something had to be done.

This clearly was going to happen at some point. Too bad Chevy waited until a point where the season was beyond saving.

Good. Only the timing of the decision surprises me. I had figured they would just re-boot off-season.

Good move overall, it was going to happen now or later and there was no reason to drag it on any longer...

Now they can start to look at possible off season moves to improve the team and hunt for a new coach.

What I'm most interested in is what the power play looks like. It's clear that pearn and Vincent had differing philosophies I just don't know who's was what.

I hope Noel finds joy in joyland elsewhere.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to disrupt both teams at this point in the season. The Ice Caps look like a good bet to make the playoffs.

I thought he'd get the rest of the season, but with the team in a tailspin it had to be done.

I'm sure Noel will land on his feet. He's a good guy.

Agree with Aavco. McCambridge wouldn't bring success at all for the jets even on the short team.

Example is Eakins, AHL success =/ NHL success

Should have happened well before this...might have been able to salvage something out of this year..too late now but we can at least hope for signs of life maybe and a better start next year...

Good. I didn't buy the whole "wait until the offseason" thing. It's not a good team but they've been playing below their abilities all year and getting worse. Hopefully the interim coach is at least good with the youngsters and they do a full search next summer.

Got to figure the Jets will interview Laviolette, Maurice and McCambridge for the job. Maybe Wilson and Kreuger as well.

Sad to see it happen, like a lot of people I viewed Noel as a genuinely nice guy and enjoyed him a lot in his exchanges with the media.

That being said, with the way this team has been performing lately and where we sit in the league right now it had to be done.

It took a few weeks for Philly, but with the Olympic break it could be possible to get on a run. Just no Lavy, zero accountability for vets, but if a young guy makes a mistake instant punishment.

What about Boucher, Maurice , maybe go AHL route.
