That would make too much sense. I have no idea why DeBoer spent all preseason praising Olesz and Josefson's abilities so much if he's not going to play either one.

And the decision to play Harrold over Fayne is baffling. Volch and Fayne don't have the same role, so it doesn't make sense to say Fayne should replace Volch. But Harrold and Fayne do have the same role, and Fayne is clearly better at it, but still Fayne is sitting.

Will I get tarred and feathered if I say that Harrold has been our best D-Man this year?

I'll only make it through the first period, it would be nice if I woke up tomorrow and we won the game.

Probably and its because Greene has been the best by far. Well, IMO anyway.

Calgary has had a pretty good start to the season, I don't expect them to be an easy victory. I doubt they'll be as bad as people expect them to be.

Really? I think Greene has been alright. Thought he looked at his best with Harrold. He played poorly his first game and better his second. While Harrold, I think, has looked great both games.

How quickly we forget how bad Harrold was vs Pittsburgh.

First game of a road trip like this is critical. Sets the tone for the team to carry through on.

I hope they come out strong tonight. No reason we can't come back from this trip gelled as a team and ready to go for the long haul.

I thought he was pretty good that game. He saved a goal by his lonesome and generally looked, to me, like the best D-Man on the ice.

This is coming from a guy who criticized Harrold for his first shift (I think I said he looked like dog poop).

Greene was pretty bad that game. He gave the Pens forwards all sorts of space to shoot. Tried to catch the puck between his thighs instead of just blocking it (allowed a goal), and has shown pretty subpar puck control - especially in the neutral zone.

I'm by no means worried about Greene though.

I think a lot of our D's problems have come from our new forward's lack of familiarity with Pete's system. A ton of odd-man rushes have resulted from poor forechecking by our forwards.

Eh, might be a good start but that team is going to be top 5 in the draft this year. It is not a good squad.

that's the level of play harrold will provide though. Just good puck moving and skating and an offensive presence, but a few head scratching moments in the neutral zone and his own end. Risk-taker all around, which isn't always the best recipe.

Except when 1 of the dmen is missing, it has nothing to do with a forward pinching.

I don't know if the Oilers and Flames are must wins but there pretty close to it. They can't keep leaving points on the table and keep taking time to gel and then by the time they do get everything straightened out there 8-10 points out of a playoff spot in November which is basically what happened in 2010. They have to put a few W's together on this trip just for confidence sake or else the whole thing cod snowball.

I think this is a foregone conclusion unfortunately. We just have to hope that they're winning while they gel.

I think they do that tonight, pretty easily. A bunch of veterans who play the exact style of hockey that I think would frustrate the heck out of a bunch of youngsters and a poor back end.

At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Harrold was not bad against Pittsburgh. When you're constantly the only d-man back because the other cement-footed guy has ill-advised pinches and you take away the pass on the two-on-ones it's not on you.

They're probably saying the same thing about us having Larsson on the third pairing.

Yeah, but are they wrong? Well, Yakupov has only played one year. A shortened year. And he has shown more than Larsson has in 3 years.

Having a bad team mate doesn't excuse his own poor play. Not all of his bad plays were a product of Volchenkov. Harrold is responsible for his own mistakes no matter who he plays with, and he's really bad even when he's not with Volchenkov.

Jeez if they make Labarbera look vezina worthy tonight.....

I'm hoping for a win but a blowout win would be really nice.
