Ditto -- but not because of the dimensions per se. It looks like he's overthinking the game, like he's reminding himself during the game to adjust to the new pads, rather than just playing his game. We know he has great reflexes. But there's also a look of relief or fatigue on his face after making some saves that I haven't seen before, one that says, "Thank god I got that one."

Being outplayed on a nightly basis nowadays.

I'm starting to get nervous about his future. Some guys hit a certain age and lose it. Hope this doesn't happen to our franchise player.

It's been all season since the smaller pads.

I guess his pads were bigger 10/28/13 - 11/21/13 where he gave up 3 goals or less in 10 straight games. 8 of which were 2 goals or less. Yup. Smaller pads.

God forbid this guy has one 10-20 game "slump" in 8 years.

Goalies who depend on athleticism rather than fundamentals break down early because even the slightest loss of the reflexes or athleticism has a serious negative effect on their performance. That's what we're seeing from Hank and he's not going to get better. Slats signed Lundqvist to a seven-year deal just when he has hit his natural decline hard. He'll be done as a quality starter by the time he is 33.

If you subtract the 10 game stretch that I CLEARLY outlined, that leaves 21 total games - all of which weren't losses or poor performances = 10-20 games.

Math is your friend.

I don't think Lundqvist is done. I just think this team can ill-afford to lose home games to Columbus. Right now, Talbot is playing better. You have to ride him until he falters for a bit. We need wins, 2 pts. The way this team is constructed, we have to win the majority of games we score 3 goals.

I haven't thought about that but as I read it, it definitely makes sense. Something to think about.

What are we going to do with him if this is true? Would anyone want him with his contract?

Consistency is your friend, who cares if he plays a good game here and there, he has been BRUTAL overall all season. Facts are your friends.

I heard similar things said when Jagr didn't get to 30 goals his last season with us.

We were in a real treat when he left.

He would have to waive his NMC.

One of the best players the organization has ever had endures a tough first half and people talk about he sucks and how he's finished. With fans like this, this ****ing franchise deserves nothing but failure.

Washington, where I relocated, sucks as a sports town. I'm beginning to appreciate it though, because the fans down here aren't willing to write off their stars and franchise pillars after half a season. HFNYR takes the "what have you done for me lately" mentality to a disturbing extreme.

why are so many on these boards insane? Hanks been a Vezina nominee for how many freaking yrs in a row and oh yea he won one.

So hes having an off yr so far. Its half way done. How about we give him the benefit of the doubt because sayig hes gonna suck throughout his contract is freaking insane at this pt. Maybe if he has an entire rough yr but half a season is not going to make me flip out

Lundqvist has been the most consistent goaltender in the NHL since 2005-6 and that is a fact that's my friend and not yours.

Tonight? .921 save %, 19/19 in 3rd and OT = good game for Henrik.

Well, you know, NY sports fans are the most fickle.

If Hank doesn't elevate his game we would need Talbot to continue to play well and prove at the end of the season that he is a sold starter.. otherwise I would not trade Hank.

Agreed.

Were Leetch or Richter critiqued in a similar way during their final playing days as a Ranger?

Yeah, because his last 8 years were so awful. This isn't the first time goalie equipment size has been reduced, correct?
