#62| New Jersey Devils @ New York Islanders | March 1st | 1:00pm | F/L 5-1

Preview

All time series record: The Islanders lead 119-87-22. Islanders all time @ home vs Devils are 69-35-11

While trying to help the New Jersey Devils reach the postseason, Jaromir Jagr is on the verge of recording another career milestone.

The 42-year-old Jagr can become the seventh player in NHL history to score his 700th regular-season goal Saturday when the Devils visit the New York Islanders.

His 60 regular-season goals versus New York (23-30-8) are by far his most against any opponent, but he has only one in his last nine against the Islanders.

The Devils totaled 11 goals and were shut out twice while losing five of seven (2-3-2) before the break, but hope Thursday's offensive performance is the start of something positive. New Jersey was 0 for 12 on the power play in the previous four games but scored on its first two chances against the Blue Jackets and also recorded a short-handed goal.

After sitting Thursday, Martin Brodeur will be in net on Long Island, where he's posted a 1.58 goals-against average while winning four of five. He has a 3.57 GAA during a three-game home skid against the Islanders.

Cory Schneider made 30 saves and Henrique scored as New Jersey snapped a three-game series slide with a 2-1 win at New York on Dec. 28.

Despite the loss of star John Tavares to a season-ending knee injury suffered during the Olympics, the Islanders returned from the break with a 5-4 overtime home win over Toronto on Thursday. Michael Grabner recorded two short-handed goals on the same penalty and recently recalled forward Anders Lee scored twice in the third period for New York, which snapped a five-game skid at Nassau Coliseum and showed some offensive life after totaling seven goals in its previous five contests overall.

Grabner snapped a five-game point drought. Though he was held without a point in the December win over the Devils, Grabner had two goals with an assist in a 4-3 shootout victory at New Jersey on Oct. 4.

Might be Brodeur's last game as a Devil. Weird feelings.

I saw Brodeur is confirmed to start tomorrow. Even if he has one of his classic great games it will be a pleasure to watch him. This may be the last chance we get to watch one of the best ( if not the best ) goalies of modern hockey play against us.

Like Marty but hopefully he'll be distracted and we light them up. Looking forward to a big follow up game for Lee, Halmo and Strome.

Capuano to address media regarding today’s lineup at 11 AM. #Isles

Does he usually do this?

A lineup has to be announced at some point. Since there's no morning skate, he has to have a scheduled time. You're looking too much into it, there won't be anything interesting.

Capuano: Nabokov in goal. No changes to the lineup from Thursday’s win. Martin and Nielsen remain day-to-day. #Isles
Guessing we see both of those guys in tomorrow. Halmo would probably go down for a couple days before Vanek is dealt.

I hope they wise up and sit Vanek and AMac today. What a blunder it would be if either were hurt.

Agree. It's a foolish risk.

I enjoy watching the games even in a down season but I just can't stand watching the Devils.

I live in Jersey and most of my buddies are Devils fans, not Rangers fans and they're constantly telling me that it's better for your team to win then to be entertained. I literally can not watch them play against any team other than the Islanders for more than 10 minutes. Even playoff games are a snoozefest.

Not only a risk of injury, it feels like (as a fan) they are really not part of the team anymore knowing they will be gone shortly.

Part of the reason I got Game Center over Center ice is I get both feeds for everygame. I was so sick watching Pittsburgh and Boston Feeds
