Meanwhile, Gerbe scores again for CAR and Sekera remains solid on D for them. Were they released/trade because of position competition, salary CAP, or just to get some fresh faces into BUF lineup?

How has Mcbain been for you guys? Haven't been following him that close this young season.

Was thinking the same thing, and I'll add if I may that COL had a dedication issue(ala Giguere), so they need to prove more than a handful of games at the beginning of the season before any adversity, etc. happens.

I'm surprised by Calgary, too.

True, but I think Calgary is catching teams off guard and don't think their energy and success is sustainable. In fact, once Vancouver started to actually try last weekend they completely owned Calgary. For whatever reason teams are not prepared for the energy Calgary is bringing at the start of each game.

I think Sekera's birth name is Staal, otherwise I have no idea why they traded him.

McBain has only played like a game and a half, I think.

It had BETTER hurt the ownership.

If this doesn't tell them "Your plan stinks! Find another one!", I don't know what will.

Gerbe had a bit of a public tet a tet about how he was being used last season that showed him the door. He wasn't playing well with the minutes he had, so to carp about the minutes he wasn't getting cut his own throat metaphorically speaking. The guy feeds on his under-dogness. The buyout should fuel him for a while. Glad he's doing well, he was one of the worst Sabres last year all season.

Sekera was moved to free up roster position for one of the kids. Miss him, guy is a solid, solid defender. McPain is McPain -- PP production is there but in his own zone he's still a trainwreck.

Well, there's the obvious, the rookie is scoring, but where is the team when that dries up? Not saying it will, or they will wither, but I'm pretty sure at some point Monahan plays like a rookie.

Years of conditioning I suppose. The Flames have been relatively lifeless for so long, to see them buzzing around full of life has to catch some teams off guard.

Looks like TBN is getting bored with ripping on team..

Jerry Sullivan ‏@TBNSully 55s

It also kills me when the legendary announcer cuts away and tells the audience the Sabres "trail by 3", but still doesn't tell you the score

Kinda funny how the more expensive seats aren't empty. I think that would make me madder/leave earlier.

I really, really wanted Monahan at the draft. I think they have their future captain.

I like Monahan, he is going to be a solid player...but his skating is...borderline NHL ready. That will catch up with him at some point this season.

And they (the injured ones) should be in Rochester getting used to the city/coach/teammates there, so that they are ready to jump into the Amerks lineup when healthy.

Zadorov should also be back in juniors. It's certainly not a surprise to me that the recent high pick they DIDN'T rush is having the best start to the season. This team needed to sign more veterans so the youth could be brought along slowly.

For a Pro team to literally throw the season this early to just get a high draft pick under the disguise of rebuilding is criminal.
