"Pas l'temps de niaiser" should apply to DD as well.

Legit question...what do you guys think about this possible forward line up against the oilers

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gionta
Bourque - Briere - Bournival
Gally - Eller - Gally
Prust - White - Moen

Or would it be a downgrade?

No offence taken. But this year is the absolute breaking point for a lot of Oiler fans. There is trade Eberle/Yakupov posts everywhere. We've been a very patient fan base the last five years. We are a fragile bunch right now. A loss for the Oil tonight....fagetaboutit!

Sure, he's earned it, and the bloodthirst on these boards might be quenched briefly by it.

But it's a coaching gamble. You need the team to play well for your message to have an impact. That is a kick in the arse to a benched player with privileged status -- play better or stay out because the team is just fine without your crap.

If the team doesn't play well, or plays even worse, then the message gets a bit garbled. Is it that player who's really the problem? Maybe it was the wrong guy. No fair, coach has favourites, let's form cliques. Or maybe it's the coach if it can't be 10 or whatever out of 18 skaters.

Anyway, that's a bit dramatic, but the point is that benching one of your top players (notionally, let's not argue) is a risky coaching move. The only reason you do it is to get the player and everyone else to play better. If that doesn't happen, then there's risk of backfire.

Eller line is your 2nd, not your 3rd, but I'd definitely give it a shot.

Switch Bournival and Prust, maybe.

Looks good, only thing I'd switch would be Bournival and Bourque. Bourque is a natural RWer and Bourni is a lefty.

That makes sense. I would be tired of losing as well, especially with all that high-end talent up front. Good luck to your team (just not tonight)

How about switch Gionta and Prust?

Now, you take Gionta aside and you tell him you just want to spark the team some but... I'd try it for sure.

Maybe if it goes REAL bad, they'll have to spill the EGG and have Eller & Galchenyuk center two different lines and spread their energy. I'd say, Gallagher - Galchenyuk - Briere, Pacioretty - Eller - Prust, Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta and whomever on fourth.

I firmly believe that XXXX - Plekanec - Gionta should be our third. A hell of a third.

Take Gionta off the plek's line and its main objective, shutting down the opposition, becomes much tougher. If there are two players who really shouldn't be separated on this team, it's Pleks - Gionta.

Also if the biggest problem with the Plek line right now has been getting any serious scoring chances, Prust isn't really what they need.

And just because because of that they should be on the third. Prust - Pleks - Gionta.

EGG
Pacioretty - Brière - Bourque
Prust - Pleks - Gionta
Moen - White - Bournival

But on the third, there'd be a lot less pressure on them to score. They'd play against the top line on the other side.

Let's not kid ourselves, yeah they had a bad game last night but they played good against Philly saturday. They created a goal and could have easily scored another one if Streit didn't neutralize Plekanec in front of the net.

I would rather see Bourque qith Pleks line and Pacio with Briere line.

I've been saying ever since the rumors for acquiring Brière came up this off season. Brière is much better as a center than he is a winger. He makes plays while on the wing, but he just isn't as productive.

It's time to put the guy in his natural spot.

I don't get why people put Pust in our Top-6 Bournival is way better than Prust offensively, our problem is scoring goal and Bournival can't produce on a 4th line ...

I would be happy. Perhaps swap Bourque and Patches, but I have no no issues with yours.

I don't want to hurt any feelings here but if Desharnais sits, its likely because he has some kind of injury and isn't 100%. I really doubt Martin would bench him after just 3 games.

Our problems are every where.

Hopefully we show up before the 3rd. Edmonton wants more than a practice.

Hopefully the ''good'' Habs show up... They have yet to play like they did prior to that season-ending slump last season.

Fortunately with the game being so late might mean they are going to show up right away

(seriously 9:30pm!? I work at 4:30am tommorow, give me a chance Bettman )
