Colin Wilson

Every Predators fan knows how hot he has been lately. The thing is he has not only been hot but really our best forward over the last 27 games as well. Yup, that is right. 27 games. When I started looking into his stats to see if there was a turning point where you saw his game really take off there is one without question. On Tuesday the 18th of November the Predators blew out Toronto 9-2. In that game Wilson scored a goal and also posted an assist. Up to that game he had 1 goal and 3 assists in those 15 games leading up to that point. Since that game he has recorded 27 points in 27 games. Pretty impressive turn around to his season at that point.

It doesn't stop there though. He has also consistently improved each month. In October he has 3 points in 10 games(.30 PPG). November he had 7 points in 11 games(.64 PPG). December he really started to get it going at he put up 10 points in 13 games (.77 PPG). Now we are closing in on the end of January and he has posted 11 points in 8 games (1.38 PPG).

He has continued to improve throughout the year. The return of Fisher to the line-up has also helped Wilson but that wasn't the turning point. That blowout in Toronto was. Here is to hoping he continues with his exceptional play.

Praise Lavy. Oh and Wilson too.

What I like is that he's using his body more to do the little things. Ie, box guys out to distribute the puck, reading plays better (fisher helps), and just overall confidence. Nice to see him on a roll.

Right now in terms of play Wilson and Fisher are our best forwards this past month. I love watching Wilson play, he is a possession machine. We should not move him, or we will regret it I think. If he can stay consistent he could be getting a nice pay day.

Only thing to worry about is once he gets his new paycheck will he continue to improve?

We need the other top line to step up. Forsberg, 1 point in the last 5 games.

His possession stats are the best on the team as well. Very happy with him right now; I was worried because this seemed like his last chance given Poile's preseason comments. Hopefully he gets locked up at a reasonable pricetag in the offseason.

He's missing Neal.

Agreed. I underestimated just much space Neal creates just by being in the offensive zone. People respect that shot.

I agree. Maybe its time for Smith and Neal to switch places again. Smith is great with Wilson and Neal obviously fits on the top line. Nice problem to have, huh?

I've been very impressed with Wilson this season. He's finally starting to put it together now that there's not a leash tied around his neck.

Wilson's issue is the same one that Smith suffers with...consistency. Both can look dangerous for stretches...Wilson's tend to last longer than Smith's bursts...but eventually they both kind of fizzle and go ice cold for a stretch.

He's playing really well at the moment, hopefully it doesn't fade the way it has in the past.

The NHLPA just published an article on Colin Wilson. A nice little read on why we will never get to see him do the moonwalk on the ice but also a brief assessment on where he thinks he improved this season: Wilson becoming a peak performer

Wilson is only 25? I thought he was older.

No report out yet. It's all speculation at this point.

The only thing is day to day, I don't believe they've even said what the actual injury is ( and I'm not shocked by that).

Wouldn't mind seeing VS or another Ads call-up for a few days while CW heals. VS has 12pts in 14 games with a Hat Trick to boot. Wonder if he is putting it together or is it fools gold?

Either way we could use some young blood for a few days. This Feb sched is crazy with 14 games in 29 days!

you only call up Stalberg if Wilson is out long term, ie several weeks. Otherwise leave Stalberg down until after the trade deadline, so we dont have to put him on waivers if the roster gets full

With Stalberg being called up that's not good news for Wilson's injury.

Not necessarily.

1) We have an extra roster spot even if everyone is healthy.
2) He's a big body compared to alot of guys we have.
3) He could be called up to be re-evaluated for a trade.
4) Poile could be calling him up to waive him again soon to see if anyone wants him.
