Are they? Or is it just like CGY?

On a different note, kinda shocked Cogliano gets a 4 year deal. Seems a bit odd.

An actual GM search or a search for an actual GM? There's a lot of difference between the two. Whoever they pick has their work cut out for them.

Tavares - 3 goals, 2 assists for 5 pts against Dallas tonight.

Just in case Steve Y had any doubts

I see the Russian Selke candidate Alex Semin doesn't make team Russia.

I don't know about that. Found this on his Wiki page:

Quote:
Tim Murray (born October 31, 1963) is a Canadian ice hockey executive. He was a candidate for the role of GM of the Buffalo Sabres, but lost the position to Taro Tsujimoto.

You, of course, do realize we are below the Flames by 3 pts., and they have 2 games in hand. So... uhh yeah... don't really believe we're in a position to be engaging in schadenfreude when we are one position from finishing dead last once again in the league.

Ok, sorry. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, I know I don't -- it's hypocritical as hell considering how ****** our team is. But I understand, in spite of my joykilling tendencies... whatever gets you past the facts staring us in the face as Oilers fans.

Who cares? The Oilers suck, we all know that. We can't find joy elsewhere? Don't tell me you didn't enjoy seeing Vancouver losing Game 7 at home.

No, that was enjoyable because of the genius fans they had holding communal barbecues around innocent people's cars and places of business the year before. I was glad to see those same Darwin award winners didn't get a chance to celebrate their team's success. In the midst of meaningless seasons where neither team is making it, and sucking hard, the 'joy', at least for me, tastes like ashes. But hey, like I said... sorry to rain on the parade man.

Geez, what took Lafontaine so damn long? I thought you were just supposed to hire your best friends as GM 5 minutes after the other guy was fired???

You mean he's NOT hiring one of his buddies as GM? What kind of organization does that kind of crap!

Blues are absolutely slaughtering the Flames right now. And Calgary has already had 3 PP's this game.

B-But he's so good!

And how come we didn't get any PPs against the Blues?

Oh because it would've made the score more lopsided, right...

EDIT: The Leafs dropped out of a playoff spot today... Good Lord Canada's hockey teams are bad. Only 2 in a playoff position and neither with the potential to do any serious damage.

Is Smid playing bad? Only 9:34 through two periods.

Did we have a hand in the roster?

Is it out fault the team is this bad?

Was it you and I that had us in the sewer the last 5 years? Then why can't we comment on the faults of other teams? Just because the management team of the team we like is awful? No, it's not so people can say whatever the **** they want. People are not only Oiler fans, they're hockey fans so people can talk about bad hockey all they want without getting "their team" shoved in their faces. How far does this logic extend? I can't criticize a bad breakout, because the Oilers have one? Or I can't comment on how bad another team's powerplay as looked, because the Oilers have a bad one?

I can't stand this strain of logic.

Why not? He's developed into a quality 2nd/3rd liner and very good penalty killer. One of the key guys contributing to the Ducks being as good as they are this season.
