I haven't even noticed him on the ice tonight, but I'm only half paying attention to this game. Smid has been absolutely brutal, both as an Oiler and a Flame, this season.

Grubauer made 5 or 6 highlight reel saves to beat the red hot Lightning.

I'm liking this Grubauer kid from what ive seen of him this year

Actually I think Buffalo still has that distinction followed by the Alberta teams at -42 apiece.

The best part about David Clarkson's obscene contract is the Leafs already used their two compliance buyouts on Komisarek and Grabovski.

Compliance buyouts can only be used on contracts that were signed prior to the lockout, so Clarkson's deal couldn't be bought out whether the Leafs had any left or not.

This is why you best make damn sure when you sign those long term deals. Sure we can question Eberle's, but getting RNH and Hall signed for relatively good money long term looks pretty good.

Wonder what happens to Grigorenko now that he's refused to go back to the Q. If he heads back to Russia, would you trade for his rights?
I think that the Oilers would be able to leave him there a few years and eventually bring him back over.

Depends on the price for his rights and his intentions. If he says hes going to go to Russia for the next few seasons/ foreseeable future. Id be ok with giving up a 3rd round pick or a prospect like Harti/Pitlick/Zharkov + pick. That 3rd round pick wouldnt be NHL ready for 3-4 years anyway (if at all), so the risk is the same between the two. But the reward is alot higher with Grigs

If he says hell play in Russia for this season and come to NA to play in AHL next seaosn or the season after, Id be ok with a second round pick.

Not a big fan, but his skill is undeniable. Theyd just have to work on his attitude.

Although if Im a better team like Chicago/Anahiem/SJ who can afford to wait for him to come over, I would be going after him hard

I just think with all the young russians we have (slep, yak x 2, zharkov) we'd be somewhere he'd want to go.

Yeah we probaly have a leg up over most teams lookign at bringing Russians over. But wed have to become a better team first. Im sure hed want to go to a good team (with 1 or 2 Russians), over a bad team with 4 or 5

Id take a risk though. A second is too high for me unless theres a better chance he comes over. A 1st is a no go for me

Man, maybe it's just been a bad couple games for him, Letang is Justin Schultz level defensively.

Bah, if Calgary drafts Ekblad I'll lose my mind. Quite the slide they're on.

Burke wants truculence. So he'll trade the pick.

Not surprised, just goes to show that some teams don't accept losing.
