Offers for rob blake?

He will most likely be bought out by the Avs, maybe traded for picks. Thoughts? I can see him in Philly, now that Niedermayer is no longer avail.

^ no way Foppa goes. Blake will be the one. If Avs had to let go of Foppa or Foote - gee talk about making a hard decision haha, two franchise players, both A captains.

That thread is useless as a source for you here. Read it.

Niedermayer will become a UFA as expected.

Foresberg is a Free Agent already. Avs will need to cut Salary somewhere. They have 21M in Salary already after rollbacks.

They still have guys to sign like Aebischer, Foote Hejduk, Tanguay, Liles (not including Foresberg or Kariya or Selanne).

They have a big time salary problem, in my view Blake will have to be bought out. It will be interesting to see.

I don't see him being bought out. I bet you several teams would take him on waivers at his current salary of 6 and whatever million. Anyway, there's really no reason to buy-out an elite d-man that many teams with cap room would willingly trade for.

so whats the situation in denver.

Sakic, Blake, Foote, Forsberg, Tanguay.

Do you think we will have to let two of them go?

For Sure, Avs will never make the Cap with all the stars on the same team.

We can buy out Rob Blake, and keep the likes of Steve Konowalchuk, Bob Boughner, Karlis Skrastins, and Ian Laperriere.

Blake is the only one who has to go(and of course Kariya and Selanne but they're UFAs anyways) in terms of cap space in order to make the team work financially.

No one will want to pick up Blakes millions... Not when they can get him for less. There's a chance Blakey winds up back here in LA LA... we'll have to see. I'm sure this is where he'd want to be if he was bought out. Maybe this time the Kings get their Hometown discount.

i agree...i don't see any legitimate source in that thread...

devils shouldn't celebrate just yet...

as far as blake, i'd wait till the avs buy him out and make him an offer. i'm sure he'd prefer to come back to the kings than any other teams. kings can show him that they will be a contender this year...

It was meant as sarcasm if you consider the quality which both teams recieve, but on another hand, the Avs cut a bunch of salary. They probably could get much better offers for blake though, I dont see why they h ave to buy him out.

Thats why I would take the deal you offered. ANY offer is better than just buying him out for nothing.

At worst, wed just cut Rivet but still gain a 2nd round pick.

Rob Blake for Eric Belanger. At least you get a roster player out of it.

Blake + $2 million cash for Isbister and a 2nd.

At least you get a guy with some potential and a backup pick to boot. Since the Avs would likely lose him for nothing later so his value isn't that high, as good as he is.

He would be an awesome mentor for Brewer. And a defensive core of

Blake - Brewer
Smith - Semenov
Staios - Bergeron

Cross or Woywitka.

I wouldn't mind giving Isbister a try, but I'm not too sold on him having much potential left. He is, what, 27?

If we're putting cash into the deal (and 2 million is a lot by normal trade standards), I'd require Raffi Torres back in return.

It's not a terrible offer though.

I don't think you even read my post.

Buying out Rob Blake means the Avalanche won't have to make such a decision.

Do you think Foote, Vaananen and Liles on defense would be strong enough for cup contention? I think so.
