I don't know where he's going to end up, but if the rumors that Jussi Markkanen signed a deal with a russian club are true, I wonder if the Oilers would sign him to play in tandem with Conklin.

I think he could end up in Chicago. Tallon is looking to replace Thibault.

He would be a perfect fit in Pittsburgh.

It all depends on if he gets a QO. When everyone thought the FA age would drop right out of the gate, there was an article in a local paper here in MN that he would like to play elsewhere for he was seeking more of a starting role. It's unknown right now if the Wild will qualify him but I see no reason not to do so.

I don't expect him to make it through the entire season as a member of the Wild organization though. (If they QO him of course.)

The reason I do not see him qualified is his current price. I think the Wild would be best to save any money they can and try for some free agents upfront.

I thought he had re-upped with Minny just prior to the lock-out.

At about 1.6 million, I don't think it would be a huge stretch to qualify him. It's pretty reasonable. Otherwise there still looking for another goaltender with NHL experience on the open market; competing with other teams for the same person. It seems more likely they'll just qualify him and do a sign and trade if he absolutley wants out.

DR has also stated that the Wild will be low-key when free agency starts. Not invisible but they won't be in the fore-front of teams looking to stock up.

One year deal-I believe he had accepted the QO before arbritration went through. I can't out-right remember it's been so long without any real hockey news.

plus, having two goalies named "Manny" on the team has got to be bad karma of some sort (is Legace still a Wing?)

Yeah, but there's been rumors of a Legace buy-out if Khabibulin is a real possibility OR if Osgood comes back. Personally, I don't care either way, goaltending hasn't been our problem the last 2 seasons.

I think this is how it will go down. He's a cheap qualifying offer. If a team really wants to give him a #1 shot, which I would guess is the only reason he'd leave, they'll offer something for him. From Manny's point of view it makes sense to stick with a team where you know you'll get a significant # of games plus have a solid shot at #1 if you can win it. Unless it's only about the dollars and some team offers him a lot more to play backup, but with the new CBA that sure doesn't seem likely.
