Ilka's Flyer musings, other teams mentioned as well

O&B net

Some tidbits:

Niedermayer will 100% be a Flyer. I am hearing that Clarke contacted Niedermayer the second he was allowed to and that they have agreed to a deal in principle. 3-years @ 5-6 million per.

With the cap @ close to $40 million per, he will also add another 1-2 winger. Demitra has been contacted. If he doesn't pan-out, look for Martin Rucinsky (sp) to be a cheaper option.

Roenick has not been asked back yet or told of his options. He is irate that the Flyers didn't call him once management was able to talk to players.

And here is a dandy:

Domi will be on the Flyers or Rangers next year, mark it down.

He's the guy who said the lockout ends today. Also said we were getting Zhamnov a few days before it happens. Other people know who he is. Sorry.

I don't think they'll be able to afford Nieds and Pavol...

He's a much more credible version of Eklund.

Not saying much. I doubt Niedermayer will be a Flyer. Chris Pronger may become a flyer though.

This is the same Tie Domi who said he was going to retire if he wasn't on the Leafs next year, right?

You missed one: Handzus to Edmonton for a d-man is being discussed. I would think that it is Smith over Brewer, but I do not know the specific target.

and then two other notes of interest.

Lindros has already been contacted by the Leafs. expect a signing any day.

The Bolts have told Khabibulin to look elsewhere. Detroit or Vancouver are the front-runners.

interesting to say the least thanks for the update.

Lindros and Bulin are being discussed on the Trade board, and Handzus to EDM has been beaten to death for like 2 years.

If Ilka wants to be like Eklund, why doesn't he call himself Sinisalo?

Ugh, Tie Domi on the Flyers? That would be completely awful...what good would a washed up former heavyweight turned cheapshot artist who has little hockey skills bring to this team? The Flyers already have a fighter who doesn't fight but thinks he's a skill player in Brashear. No thanks. I'd rather let Fedoruk toil away on the 4th line that ever have Tie Domi on this team.

Niedermeyer...I'd like him on this team a lot, though. Top d-man, plays strong at both ends, and fast. I don't see anything to not like there. I'm not so sure about Demitra, but we'll see about that. And Handzus for a d-man? I don't see why you'd do that if you get Niedermeyer. Then again, I don't think watching the Flyers would be the same without Zeus's crazy hockey hair flying around out there (well, flying around being relative).

And this is so much better, to be talking hockey again. God I missed this...

He's not trying to be.

Tie Domi on the Flyers... think about the benefits. Each home game, a fan gets a chance to tangle with Domi in the penalty box.

Oh, okay. That's good because I don't think anybody saw that one coming. Well, the potential for an agreement had been talked about ad nauseum for the past several weeks, but let's not get caught up in semantics.

The Flyers are going to have to do some serious shuffling if they plan on trying to fit Neidermeyer under the cap. I just don't see how it can be done unless they plan on walking away from Roenick, too. It might not count against the books (but then again it might), but buying out all these players is going to cost the organization money. Buying players like LeClair or Amonte out because they chew up so much cap room is one thing; buying players like Roenick out to fit other players not already on the roster under the cap is another. I'm going to have to see it to believe it.

A $40M cap my backside. Nobody has suggested that it would be anything different than several not unsubstantial million dollars less.

That will really increase revenue. But does the fan need to leap into the penalty box?

I'd love to see Niedermayer on the Flyers. He is exactly the type of defenseman the Flyers could use.

However, I wouldn't want to see Handzus go at this point. Assuming they added a defenseman of Niederymayer's caliber, it wouldn't make sense to me to lose a centerman on a team that might have two rookies at that position for another defenseman.

Personally, I wouldn't mind Domi on the team. He looks like a goomba.

Well the JR bit is wrong considering he was on DNL just a minute ago. It will be him, Kapanen and Preems on that line. That's fine. I wouldn't JR to leave.
