Yakupov + Klefbom + 2nd would be around the price I think. Makes the Oil much better and puts Buff in good position, but needing a goalie.

I'm fairly certain that with most limited NTC/NMC's, if not all of them, they have provide said list at the start of each season.

So yeah, no.

I don't see the point in TV as the Oil don't need another LW.
Teams cant retain salary on 3 contracts, no more than 50% on any one contract and no more than 15% of the salary cap in total (so $9.645m this season).

Buffalo can retain 50% on both contracts without any issues. I don't see how this deal would make sense for the Oilers either though.

I think Miller cares more about winning and money than being closer to his wife during the season.

He's talked on the record about how being away from his wife during the season is just a part of the occupation he has chosen.

Then you remember how well managed Edmonton are and it suddenly makes more sense

Seriously though, if my team gave up a player 15 months away from being taken 1st overall++ for 2 impending UFA's, I'd go nuts.

Not a fan of either team but I'd want more than two UFA's,albeit good ones, for the guy who was taken first overall a year ago.

This makes sense to me. The Oil need a kick in the pants and some veteran starpower to go with their kids. The Sabres need to continue rebuilding.

Without extensions, this would be a overreaction by EDM and be a big mistake IMO.

Why? Look how well it worked out for Mike Milbury.

Edmonton:
Miller (no extension)
Ehrhoff/Myers
Ott

Buffalo:
Yakupov
Dubnyk
+

Don't see a point to Vanek going to EDM unless they are looking to win the cup this year.

This rumor started with a Buffalo News columnist that Sabres fans generally distrust.

Just saying....
Exactly! I don't doubt the two teams are talking but Vanek to the Oilers makes little sense. It has got to be a Dman and Miller.

Note with trade talk, #Sabres Ryan Miller does have a limited no trade clause and #Oilers are one of the teams on his no trade list.

i think Kypre just makes **** up...I dont think Miller even has a list yet, and would release one only when asked by Regier to do so.

The two are such logical trading partners so I can believe that they are talking. Edmonton desperately needs a goalie and some defence and they have an excess of forwards which Buffalo needs. Personally, I think it would be a mistake to trade Yakupov unless another young player is coming back. Trading a young potential star for older players is a real risky move that could come back to haunt the Oilers much like the Canucks trade of Cam Neely for Pederson and some scrub named Glenn Wesley.

The lists are usually made at the end of each season for the following offseason/season. The chances that he has a list already are probably 100%

The lists are usually in at a specified time before the year starts.

I think this could be a really interesting idea for both teams. Vanek is still a damn good player.
While I agree - if EDM was originally on RM's NTC list - I highly doubt that he would sign there long term. Which is the really the point for EDM IMO. Getting a bandaid in goal for the next 60 games would probably be worth a 2nd & a prospect, not the 1st overall from just one year ago.

is there evidence that this is actually true? Pominville didn have a list until asked for. I know its likely Miller probably made one considering he knew he'd likely be traded, but how and where does Kypreos even get that info?

He's arguably the least knowledgeable 'insider' out there...Sportsnet is practically a glorified hockeybuzz at this point.
