Name the new Defensive defenseman Trophy

Should this new award be named after someone like Langway? Or be given a catchy new creation. Should contests be run and the top three submitters get invited to the awards ceremony? The Selke has been around for a long time. The defense men that don't score never get recognized regardless of how good they are. The Cap fans could accomplish this? Create a new award? The trophy could be something fantastic and be presented by ? A major sponsor? Capital one, geico, verizon? If we can't win a Stanley cup the least we could do is put our energy behind something positive and make something happen.

The trophy should be WOW. Not glass. Definitely shiny and eye catching. The envy of other sports fans. It does not have to be enormous. It could be an eagle? Or abstract eagle. Or?

Mike Green already has the Green Scale of Marijuana's named in his honor. Does he really need a trophy too?

You keep the Norris, for best defensive defenseman. Orr, for the best offensive defenseman.

Would a shiny abstract eagle awarded to the NHL's best defensive dman really be "the envy of other sports fans?"

But I would go with Eddie Shore. Old-time hockey.

Why? Orr was way more than just an offensive defenseman. He was great in every part of the game.

exactly.....its seems that gets lost way too often as it is, name a trophy after him for offensive numbers likely just adds to that in the future.

Seems like the "need" (and I disagree there is a need for this) is to award the defensive player for his work. If thats the case create a trophy based on that....not change the Norris. It will seem homer-ish but if its named after a modern (post expansion) player I dont see how it cant be named after Langway. Its even a solid sounding name...The Rod Langway Award....sounds like a hockey trophy

Well in the DC sports world they are pretty impressive.

Which reminds me, anyone know where I can find a "2010-11 Regular Season Eastern Conference Champions" T-shirt?

This is my solution.

Though Orr also works for both categories
