St.Louis Blues November Preview

I do this on a basketball forum, just a good way to talk about the upcoming month and create some conversation. Thought it might work well here as well.

Games to watch:

  • Pittsburgh November 9th: Sidney Crosby comes to town
  • Colorado November 14th: First game against current division leader
  • Boston November 21st: First of two games against top tier B's
  • San Jose November 29th: Chance to avenge ourselves

Obviously, a busy month for us. We'll need it after this week off and the jump it's given the teams around us. Not overly challenging though, only six of the fourteen teams we play are currently in the playoffs.

A really good chance for us to have a solid month, looking at the schedule, there's only three teams on there that scare me (Pittsburgh,Boston and SJ). All three are beatable though, don't get me wrong.

Good chance we manage a good stretch of points in November looks like. I say we go around 10-3-2 for ~22 pts out of 30 possible

Win over PIT would be great gift from my favorite team for my 30th birthday.
As Note in KY said I´d expect about 10Ws from this schedule. Hope I won´t be disappointed.

Just hope we don't lose to the Sabres.

Colorado November 14th: First game against current division leader
Colorado November 27th: Second game against current division leader

With Pittsburgh, Boston, & San Jose, you kinda know what you'll get.
Colorado seems like the harder team to read.

Unless giguere/varlamov play like they have been I'm not so worried about Colorado. Though they can definitely put up goals, they got majorly outplayed but pittsburgh. Think we take both of those games

The avs have simply just taken advantage when their opponents have struggled or made mistakes. They can put the puck in and they have a couple of solid two-way forwards, but their d corps is terrible. Just wait until Varlamov struggles and this team will go straight down with that D.

They will go downhill but we can't even beat Colorado when they suck so I'm not expecting anything spectacular against them at all.

Silver lining is we don't have an uber expensive star player for John Scott to assault.

What a worthless goon that guy is. Kind of miss him being on the 'Hawks just because of how terrible he is at hockey.

I still remember Vladimir Sobotka leveling him with a reverse hit despite being half his size.

People don't realize how bad of a skater Scott is. I've seen some ECHL skaters and even some Chill skaters skate better than that goon. The guy can't play hockey. He's only there to drop em.

Kessel was smart and tried to skate away from him only to be caught by the 6 foot long reach of Scott.

Can't wait to attend back-to-back Blues games on the first and second. Hopefully we get the 4 points

Luck!

Nothing against Patrick Roy former NHL goaltender extraordinaire. But, when has a goalie ever made it big time in the NHL as a head coach?

He’s got the adrenalin pumped in his young players and when that starts to fade so will the Avs.

The only goalie I can recall who coached an NHL team was Emile “The Cat” Francis. After 3 seasons he left the Blue’s organization with a miserable 46 Win 64 Loss record.

Let’s face it -- Goalies are simply a different breed of hockey players whom have their quirks!

Exactly. We never seem to win against them -- especially in Denver.
