Is it time for Lou to get his walking papers

He put this coaching staff together he controlled the players we have or don't have. I think it's time to let him go along with DeBoer and Stevens. The Devils fans will respect these moves.

Who's firing Lou? The new ownership's already being hated for the off-ice stuff...if they fire Lou they'll get it worse than Jerry Jones did after he axed Tom Landry.

If Pete isn't canned by next Wednesday morning then yes he should go.

Let's be serious, we're not beating Vancouver, Boston, and probably not TB either.

Seriously what the heck is going on? Marty is garbage and now we're firing Lou?

Yes Lou has a lot to do with this mess but let's get rid of the idiot coach before we toss to the side the guy who put together 3 Cup teams.

Wow.

Let's put it this way. If a random GM (not named Lou Lamoriello) was running this team for the past 10 years, it would be unanimous that he should be fired. Terrible drafting, poor free agent signings, and illogical decisions. But it's Lou and he won three cups pre-lockout so he has a pass until he retires.

Lou hasn't exactly been great at picking coaches either. We thought we had a winner with Pete at last, but it turned out he was just propped up by an All-Star staff. They lusted after Sutter for eighteen months and didn't realize that if it took that long to talk him out of staying home, he was eventually going back home.

It's essentially impossible to tell the difference in drafting and development. All you know is the player didn't pan out. Whatever the reason is, it's unacceptable.

And this is why I said he should can Pete first.

If Pete is still here next Wednesday then we have some problems.

Larsson, Josefson, and Tedenby went where they were expected to go there is no reason for all 3 of them to struggle to stay in the lineup

This pretty much sums up my thoughts. Outside of 2012, there's been more blunders than home runs.

71 years old, time to think about retirement. Now this will get turned into a "how dare you bash Lou" thread after all he's done!

It's not working anymore.

Its not Lou who's to blame. He out together a great team that was 2 wins away from a Cup. Then Parise, Kovalchuk, Clarkson left....who's fault is that?

A combination. Kovalchuk is not his fault. But signing Parise for one year as an RFA and then waiting until the season ends to negotiate is certainly Lou's fault. Similarly, he didn't negotiate with Clarkson until after the season. It's an idiotic policy.

The line between patience and stubbornness is razor thing, and while he has had some gems recently, I can't help but think we'd be in better shape with someone else at the helm.

Lou will not be fired under any circumstances, but I do hope he has a sudden urge to spend more time with his grandchildren.

But in the business world, no one gets a pass. Maybe on HFBoards and to fans, but not the real business world.

Lose Deboer and see what happens. I predict nothing, and then begin rebuild. Lou doesn't want on? Drop him I say.

The 29th pick who is currently in the minors.....

What really kills Lou is the VOLCHENKOV deal... *THAT*, he has no excuse.

Lou has not adapted to the new NHL. He hasn't been good since the pre-lockout. He's had boneheaded cap management decisions, given awful free agent contracts because we can't develop anybody half decent, and he made a brilliant decision keeping the 29th overall pick.

Volchenkov deal? Not that he signed Jay Pandolfo for 8 years at nearly 6 million?

I can't even second-guess him for Volchenkov or Zajac. Our defense was completely static and needed some new blood when we brought Volch/Tallinder in. And our center depth is a hot mess without Zajac. Especially since Zajac HAS had good seasons in the NHL. I don't expect Lou to believe that Zajac was completely a product of Parise, even if 'I' was beating that drum (along with others) this offseason.

His coaching choices have been extremely erratic, and the decision to keep #29 (the pick) was absolutely inexcusable. Those are really the major things I get on Lou for. And the Clowe contract, which is 'already' looking worse than Rolston/Volch ever did.

And Mr. 29th Overall has 0 points in the AHL this season. He was really well worth it.
