Tryout I believe, Flames didn't sign him.

He has a tumultuous career, starting with the Downie incident in Windsor. He got unfairly pegged for having an attitude problem and instead of proving people wrong, he decided to grow an attitude program and get under people's skin. You can see how well that went for him.

I'd like to see him rebound in Hamilton. There's a good kid there. He could make the Habs fourth line if he really pushed himself. I have my doubts he has it anymore though.

Aliu is on a AHL only deal. He would need to sign an NHL contract

He's a longhot, but if he ever panned out he's got huge upside for a team needing edge. Course there's no guarantee we'd be able to call him up if he ever did get it together. I assume he'd have to clear waivers. Not likely to happen at this point regardless.

No. He currently does not count to Montreal's pro contracts. If they decide they want him in Montreal, they have to sign him.

Aliu is on a 25-game PTO contract. When the Bulldogs sign a player, AHL contract, two-way AHL/ECHL contract, pro tryout, amateur tryout, 98% of the time, the player status in the NHL is free agent, he doesn't belong to us.

Do Duffy have the same contract?

Duffy signed an AHL/ECHL contract.

The other players with 25-game PTO contract like Aliu are Erik Nyström, Maxime Macenauer & Nathan McIver.

No longer any call up waivers.

In an interview on Bulldogs radio he said he had a variety of offers for AHL contracts but Hamilton was the best fit for him. He's only 24 so I doubt that he is finished but it would be a longshot for him to make it.

Bergevin likely knew him from their Chicago days.

I don't see this going past the 25 game mark.

He's playing well so far. If he continues, he'll get the AHL contract, and might earn a 2 way next year. We are a team looking for size and jam on the wings....he has the talent, now if he gets his head in the game......

I remember when he was being drafted there was a lot of hype around this guy. He was projected to be a boom or bust and I guess he busted. Sure would be nice to pull this out of the scrap heap and profit from it.

A lot of guys don't have it between the ears at 24. Lets see what happens. Low risk, high reward.

I'm sure he's seeing the sports psychologist. You can't expect people to figure things out by 24. Life isn't fair and hockey is even less fair. He needs to build that into his viewpoint, respond to it and use it to thrive on instead of just reacting to it.

Has anyone seen him play in the Hammer? What kind of minutes is he getting? In what situations is he being used?

This guy actually looked good in the nhl games he played. I thought the Flames would give him a shot.

I agree, it's a bit mind-boggling, I don't think he can really be anything more than a 4th liner in the NHL though, but he could still be a good one. At the same time, Flames are run by Jay Feaster, THE mind-boggled guy.

I'm always interested in adding spunk and energy to our 4th line, especially a heavyweight. Is White that much better?

Are we that close to the 50 limit. If not we should be pretty pro-active
in signing this guy. Otherwise, if he plays well, we'ed lose him to another team.
We are not overloaded with talent at forward. With the resent call-ups there
is lots of ice-time in Hamilton, and that could happen a lot this year.

But for those who have seen him play this year. How is his skating? I hear
he has some speed, but is his agility OK ? And does he go to the net, and have
any skills in the crease?

I've only seen him once in Hamilton but he definitely had speed to burn and agility/quickness or whatever other measures you use, but basically his skating was great IMO, strongest asset. He went to the net and dirty areas when I saw him, as for skills, didn't see a ton. Willingness, effort was there, and he wasn't "Blunden" with the puck but yeah didn't blow me away in 1 game, hard to do though.
