LOL poor Alberts, I was rootin' for him.

Wonder if any rumours out there for a possible trade? or is this just a weird move by MG/Torts.

Trade imminent.
oh no what has Gillis gone and done
Maybe Sauve deserves the look, the team already knows Corrado is good to go at the NHL level so early season is the time to test guys out.

Also, MG was at Utica's franchise home opener today. So he probably saw something during the game to call him up... as soon as the game ended or something....

I'd like to know Gillis' reasoning for this.

Are all the forwards so craptacular that they are worse options at forward than any of Weber/Alberts/Sauve at forward? If so, yikes!

Does this mean Corrado's play has fallen so far that Sauve is ahead of him on the depth chart now?

Did Gillis pick 8 random names, toss them onto a wheel and spin it?

Did Alberts smartly use his offseason pursuing damning evidence against Gillis and/or Tortorella?

This management team boggles my mind sometimes. Sauve is a bottom pairing AHL d-man. So confused...

They're going to see how Sauve does first before waiving/trading Alberts. If he's somewhat decent, Alberts will be packing his bags.

I can't stop thinking this as well. I normally don't like putting on the tinfoil-trade-hat, but we have Corrado waiting, Stanton has performed better than expected, and with Weber in the top 7 mix along with the longshot Sauve.....
Could we find one of the big 4 persuaded to move???
Nah....crazy thoughts!

From what I heard about him, I don't know if there is much downside to calling up Grenier instead. Maybe they don't want to ruin his confidence by calling him up and playing him like 4 mins/game.

Fair enough, I really don't see the point of calling up a defenseman at all really

As someone said previously, it's likely that if Sauve can show he isn't a pylon, Alberts time here is done.

has to be something else going on why Sauve came up instead of Corrado and we already have 6 healthy d-men?

After he sucked *** in the ECHL last year, I thought for sure I'd never, ever see his name in a Canucks jersey again... he did nothing to prove he belonged here or in the AHL so I really, really... REALLY do not understand this.

YES! It's happening.

Don't fail me now Yann.

I'm one of the few who isn't as massively down on Sauve as most seem to be. But even i'll admit this is bizarre. There has to be something more at play here than just needing a d-man, because it would seem we're still fine there, and i would've thought Corrado would be the first callup if it were a dire need on the blueline, obviously.

Kinda tempting to put on the tinfoil trade hat. Showcasing as part of a deal to Montreal? Some sort of 'throw-in' on a deal for the center we really need, and they want to see him in the NHL?

Or maybe they've decided to make this a 'sink or swim' moment for Sauve. Build up his confidence a little bit and throw him into the deep end of the NHL...see if he floats? If not...jettison him somewhere and clear out a contract spot?

Or maybe he really just is as serviceable a depth blueliner as i thought he could potentially be circa the year before the disaster that was last year?

Very interesting. Much intrigue. Many questions. So excite.

More likely that the organization is tryin to replace Alberts with a like-minded player - aka Sauve. Corrado is a much different d-man who would likely be looked on if Weber was on the way out, not Alberts.
