People need to get over the idea of trying to mitigate the value of the 1st rounder we have to forfeit - that's a sunk cost. In finance, you can't worry about sunk costs. It's done.

Trying to make ourselves feel better by making the pick a few spots lower isn't going to actually benefit us.

The question will be, do we have a chance to make the playoffs at the deadline? If we do, then it's worth trying to make the playoffs because of the revenue that would bring to the ownership.

However, if we can't make the playoffs, we need to sell anybody who isn't in our long-term future. And that includes Jagr, Zids and Fayne. I like all three, but they are all UFAs that I don't see as part of our future - Jagr might retire, Zids is old, and Fayne will probably bolt.

That means we probably stink next year, which risks Corey - however I think we might be able to tie Corey up long-term and just give him extra cash, saying "Look, we'll stink next year, but we'll be buyers after that". I think if given enough money, Corey won't mind losing for just next year.

"Cory, there's this kid named McDavid..."

Not that I necessarily think they'll be that bad, but the next couple years could be a little rough while they transition from the old guard into the new.

That would certainly make it easier for the Devils to beat them.

loved me some yars.

Speaking of revenge - how about we ship out one of our D to hold Paul Martin's hand. Mr. $5M has a whopping 1 goal and 1 assist at even strength and 2 PP assists on top of that.

He could use a change of scenery. They're holding back his true offensive talent.

I hated that noise it made. Felt like I was sitting on a vinyl coach with shorts on.

Darn it Pitt, if you were just a bit more of an offensive team.

Ah yes the thick rubber grinding noise. Those sticks were made to last though. As hard as you marked them around they never broke. Wish the Playstation controllers were made that well.

Scrambled image? Blow on the connectors!

As in sour? As in the fans and his contract? I kid. I'm sure that was a great costume.

Put two of those joysticks on a PS3 controller. Thumbs like tubers.

Jagr sets NHL record with 119th game-winning goal

Jagr sets NHL record with 119th game-winning goal

Quote:
Jaromir Jagr became the NHL's leader in game-winning goals with a flashback to his heyday.

Stealing the puck at the blue line, Jagr skated the length of the ice, froze Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop with a sleek move and deposited a second-period wrist shot into an open net to give the New Jersey Devils a 2-1 victory over the Lightning on Tuesday night.

Hate to be that guy, but they corrected it as he's in second place to Gordie Howe who has 121.

Yep.

I saw those rankings on NHL Network so somebody in NBC didn't do their research. Imagine that....

So he's 3 game-winners away from passing Howe. He has a good shot of doing it this year. Jagr is a 41-year-old beast.

For a 1ST ROUNDER?

The entire Devils HFBOARD Contingent would pay for his plane ticket to Canada.
