Don't like the Sedin choice, but Edler was 3/7 prior to this year (now 3/9 which is still respectable).

Who else do you choose?

I'm thinking Tommernes and Biega. Maybe call up Cannata and play him beside the twins?

Kassian should get a look.
Outside of maybe one time, I can't recall either Sedin doing anything else other than moving in at a glacial pace until they were three inches in front of the goaltender and then unloading a wet fart of a shot into an ironclad fivehole.

Baffles me how bad the Sedins are in SOs.

Edler shouldn't be allowed in a SO unless it's him or Torts left and I'd still go with Torts.

Unfortunately we don't have anyone with high-end skill and/or going in with speed on SOs.

I think once healthy, Burrows and Schroeder will be back in the mix but that's it.

Hell might as well give Welsh a go as everyone besides Santo seems to suck balls at it.

Either way, good for them for winning a fugly game.

Tomorrow isn't gonna be pretty though.

Top line took care of the game early and Luongo saved it. I thought we looked pretty good in OT though. Burrows, Hansen, Shroeder, Booth, and Weise out. Yikes. Tomorrow has the potential to turn into one really ugly game.

Side note, but I loved how Torts gave Kes/Hank/Dan some love after they tied the game.

Richardson
Kassian
Higgins
Kesler

would all shoot for me before Edler.

edit: and considering Edler scored on his first two shootout attempts (I'm fairly sure), 3 for 9 includes a fairly considerable cold spell.

That's a nice character win there.. You could tell the team was getting tired in the third. Didn't have much energy left. Tomorrow's game might be a rough one.

Hilarious title.

He's challenging a lot more, I've noticed, especially the shooters that come in with speed.

The top players came through for the Canucks in this one. Daniel, Hank and Kesler took care of the scoring and Luongo took care of the rest, while Santorelli fittingly scored the shootout winner. Wasn't the best looking game but it's one of those feel good wins.

Weird 3rd period too. The Devils obviously carried the play and got a ton of shots but at the same time it seemed like they were clogging it up and clinging to the tie.

I think he's talking about the team having a back to back, and losing 3 forwards over the past two games. Booth, Weise, Hansen, Schroeder and Burrows are out of the lineup.

Schneids looked great during the shoot out, I thought Luongo didn't look he was in control of any of the devils attempts. Lol I'll take it, Luongo deserved it after that great 3rd period, and the BS reffing in OT.

Luongo hasn't been good enough until this point. This was the first game where I felt he not only outplayed the opposing goalie but also stole the victory. This version of Luongo from here on out please...

That was a hard fought win. Boys are banged up and tired.

Again noticed Kassian with a couple nice offensive moments. Has to start getting on the score sheet soon.

Saint ORLY!! Where would we be without this guy.

Sedins falling everywhere tonight. Don't know if it was obstruction or fatigue. Daniel with shades of Naslund in the shootout there.

Take it and run.

Daniel yes, but no reason edler should not (and alot of outsiders and media even think its ******** we dont try the sedins more despite them sucking at shooouts) edler has scored for us in the past even under av and was used heavily in the shootout last season. If he would have thrown out kesler again people would have been complaining as well after his last shootout attempt.

Also he should get the benefit of the doubt more then 1 shootout... thats not a lot to go by.

He could have used kassian, and kesler, and it could be the same results, kesler especially has struggled lately on shootouts.

He deserves alot of credit for using santo. And honestly we just dont have enough good shootout players to say so and so should be in the shootout and not this guy, our own forum cant even agree who should be shooting.

Helps that they actually practice shootouts now.

actually he was 6/22 career (I only had his home stats)
Rich 0/1
Kass 1/3
Higg 3/13
Kes 10/39

3 worse and 1 marginally better but only 1 goal.

Ugly, boring game. But we showed pretty decent battle with a very depleted lineup to get a result.

Forward injuries just continue to mount. Had 7 legitimate NHL forwards for most of this game. No surprise we looked tired. Richardson, Kassian, Higgins, Santorelli were all near career highs in TOI.

Same story with the reffing. Sedins mauled all night ... and they get the only penalty.

Luongo was fighting the puck a bit in the first two periods, but the 3rd + OT was his best period of the season. Looked very solid with good rebound control.

Sedins are our only line, really. Another good effort from them to create both goals. Kesler continues to demonstrate improved play and battle.

Santorelli is a Swiss Army Knife who continues to provide a lot of hustle and value. Huge shootout goal.

Defense were all very good - solid game in that regard. Bieksa and Stanton in particular were very sound.

Welsh did a decent job chewing up his minutes in low-event fashion.

Alberts sees his icetime nearly tripled ... to 1:49. Please waive him, already.

Kassian not as good as in the Islander game - made a few nice plays, but want him to take charge more in the offensive zone.

________

Will be fascinating to see what we do in order to ice an 18-man lineup against St. Louis. If we win that game, it'll be a miracle.

We might actually have 3 defenders as an Alberts-Weber-Sauve 4th line. Am guessing that would be the first time that has happened in NHL history.

And Sestito and Welsh on the 3rd line. Need some bodies here ASAP.
