The win today will make the loss tomorrow a little less painful.

He had the awareness to correct an early knee drop on the Elias attempt. Differs somewhat from his traditional move of committing and hoping for the best (see the previous attempt).

Next shootout lineup should be Sestito, Weise and Tanev. Just for the lols, and it can't be any worse.

We could emergency call up Horvat IIRC, but we need bodies ASAP. Archibald?

Well, once again, Torts makes no use of his fourth line.

Luongo on the 4th line tomorrow likely.

I imagine they'll do some emergency call-ups for tomorrow. Could be a good time to get a look at Archibald and Grenier?

happy to get out of there with a win after having 9 forwards to work with.

i think torts isn't going to be putting the sedins back in the shootout any time soon, but daniel at least earned a sniff with his game tonight.

santo had a great game, the shootout goal was icing on the cake, but several times i found him deep on the backcheck and making good plays for a clean breakout. his speed is something the canucks need out of their secondary scoring, even if he isn't going to put up a lot of points (which fortunately he has).

welsh continues to find scoring chances, he's not afraid to go to the net. he's been a pleasant surprise for the minutes he's gotten, though the penalty was a little loosey-goosey.

kassian, though the effort wasn't fully there, managed to show for the third straight game that he has good hands. looking forward to seeing what he does with more ice time as the injuries pile.

the officiating was invisible, they let pretty much everything go both ways. very dead puck era type of effort from the zebras. can't really complain as it wasn't biased. the sedins have to find a way to be more balanced on their skates. they've never been as easy to take down as they were tonight. but when that's your only complaint about your star scorers (after snatching victory from the jowls of defeat), then things must be good.

Tough to count guys with 4 combined attempts as being 'worse' than a guy with 22.

I definitely agree this is the first game he's stolen.

Also tough to claim they are better options. If i was coach I would have maybe tried kassian but other then that I have no real issue with his choices, we know the sedins suck at them, torts doesnt so much and maybe feels they need more opportunities because they have not had many the past few years, i doubt he tries daniel again after that, we just dont have any strong shootout players to choose from to be claiming he made stupid choices and so and so would surely be better.

Only because they're unknown. I'd rather take a flyer on any other shooter on the team than watch Daniel stickhandle into the goalie's pads or Edler come in wide and miss again.

Good to see the team bonding over these types of wins.

It would be one of those team building awe inspiring TSN turning points of the season if that were to happen.

Think back in the day with Crawford taking the team out for some out door shinny. Wasn't that in Ottawa?

Disagreed. Maybe Zajac's were the puck rolled on him, but Henrique got the post because Lu's stick was in the right place, and he stoned Elias.

Whose to say your choices wouldnt have missed either?

Then we would be sitting here criticizing those choices.

Like I said now that he seen daniel i doubt he gets another shot.

Honestly i just dont see why your complaining, we have no locks or go to guys for shootouts. Especially given our injury plagued line up, and keslers attempt was bad last time. Little options to choose from.

so they're better than?

You want a guy that has 22 attempts and 6 career goal behind guys that have little to no experience.

If Torts goes with Richardson and he fails, you'd complain "why does Torts go with a guy that was 0/1??"

I have no problem with 2nd guessing or criticizing, but do your homework. Like it or not, Edler is the Canucks 3rd best career shootout skater, and their 2nd (Burr) was injured.

Burrows said he felt good but didn't want to play before getting a practice in. I assume the new injuries will make him suit up tomorrow.
