I like 7, means that's the new bar now. 7 is the new 5, and soon 10 will be the new 7.

I thought it was going to be 5, so an extra 2 is a step in the right direction.

7 or 700 changes nothing.

Would have liked to see Shanny throw the book at him, 15-20 would have gotten people's attention. I get that Scott is not normally a "dirty" player, and believe that Rolston is just as much/more to blame, but they should have made an example of him.

7 games is too light for the amount if time Loui is going to be out. Should have fined the Sabres a hefty amount as well and it would have helped curtail future occurrences. Part of me still thinks someone needs to put Scott in his place the next time the two teams meet. I don't care who it is, just have them run Hodgson or Moulson a bit (nothing bad) to get his attention, and then go from there. On the other hand, not sure that would do a bit of good?

it makes the bruins no better than the ****** sabres.

accept that the league has no interest in actually protecting players and move on, try to stay healthy and get in the playoffs. won't see the sabres there for sure.

The coaches should get a game when a player gets more than 5, and the GM should get one. Multiple suspensions over 5, the coach should get up to 50 percent of the suspension, and the GM should share the player suspension. A little incentive for the management and coaches to keep an eye on the jerks and get rid of them when they start crossing the line too often.

7 may as well be 1. The guy's trash.

This is a good idea and it should be cumulative-so two players get three games and it totals six-coach gets a game for every 5 games of suspension.

I think in addition to players having to play with respect for the opposition that the league and NHLPA have to reach a deal that makes these hits not just painful to the players but painful to the team and FO. Fines, suspensions something.

The only way to stop this and goons is financially. The penalty has to hurt the team.

For every game suspended charge the team $100k against their Cap. Charge the same amount against the club payable to retirement fund.

You hurt their wallets and cap, goons go extinct.

And until we have some suspensions that really hurt (like half a season or playoffs) more players receive career-threatening concussions.

Hurt the wallets of those who make the decisions and the decisions will change. Suspend the coaches and GMs.

This is great! He'll get back just in time to face The Leafs in their double header. I can't wait to watch that side-show. Mclaren and Orr are going to go buckwild on that dirtbag in back to back games. This is a best case scenario really.

I agree Lucic could take Scott. But I also think an angry Chara could destroy Scott. I would like to see the Chara who bloodied David Koci come out again. His Bambi legs show up when he's disinterested in the fight, which unfortunately is often because he's genuinely a calm human being. Scott is not a very skilled fighter, he relies solely on his reach.

He already missed 3 games prior to the hearing correct? So it's more like 10

Nope - he gets credit for those 3 games so he only has 3 more games to go after tonight. He'll be back playing his much valued 4 minutes a games with Buffalo before we see Eriksson back playing for Boston.

I'm sorry but Chara can't fight. Koci already had that cut from a prior fight a few days earlier. Chara just reopened it. Please do not use that one fight or the rag dolling of Bryan McCabe as justification that Chara can fight.

Yes he's big and strong. But he has no balance and he really can't throw a punch.

There is only ONE guy on this Bruin's team that would have a chance against John Scott in a fight and that is Milan Lucic. And the way Lucic has been fighting lately with no defense and going balls out unprotected, I don't like his chances. I fear it would be the same result as when Lucic fought Colton Orr. You CANNOT fight the top heavyweights in the league by putting your head down and trading bombs. Not when they have the reach on you and a 20-60lb weight advantage. I don't care if you were an amateur boxer or not. You will get lit up, knocked out or end up with a broken face fighting them like that.

I'd rather not see Lucic get injured in a fight against the worst player in the league.
