Huge package, perhaps overpayment, but worth every penny to watch Weber mentor Nurse, not to mention have a #1 D again.
Also this is kind of collusion, no? Dont think thatd fly

IS a Weber trade even a possibility? why would NASH wat to trade one of the top defenders in the game? I guess for the offensive help?

I still cant believe they had Weber, suter, and Hamius at one point on the same team..

There are lots of teams that could do it. Question is which team would be willing to do it. Edmonton makes the most sense if their management has the guts.

With Josi and Jones, I dont think the Preds would hang up on Webers offers. Especially with the ridiculous contract.

In fact, hang onto Weber for another year or two to sell tickets while tanking then trade him.

Calgary could take on the salary without blinking, but I don't think they have the assets. Too bad, Weber would be awesome in Calgary.

Well if the future considerations are Justin Schultz, then it could fly.

Can't see the Preds Turing down that offer either.

---

Detroit could absorb the salary and cap hit no problem, but I doubt Nashville would take the offer.

---

Another thing to consider for the teams trading for Weber is the huge amount of money he is owed. GMs have to take that into consideration when justifying trading a Kings ransom for Weber when getting the owners approval.

Yeah, we aren't moving both Weber and Jones.

It's really not, we want the world for Weber and can move Josi, Klein or Ekholm when the time is right. We're in no rush to dump his contract for peanuts.

With Weber, Josi, and Jones we trade Josi and keep Weber and Jones. Easy.

Ok. I wouldn't . Trade Weber while people think he deserves the Norris trophy every year and has that horrible contract.

I already made it known that I want the Oilers to go after Weber since last summer.

I'm not sure why anybody is delusional enough to think the Preds are trading Weber after they've put $27M into him in the last year...

Let me guess you think because we sucked last year that Weber is no longer a norris caliber defenseman despite our goaltender being injured and 9 of our forwards being out right?

Weber is as untradable as Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Ovechkin, etc. If we don't get a fair deal, fair being a complete ream job for the other team, than he'll retire a predator and us fans will remain happy either way.

Maybe in 3-5 years he'll get traded, but it just doesn't make any sense if you're paying attention to our situation.

If you are looking for a match made in heaven...Colorado Avalanche.

1st/2nd line center in Stastny
Middle Upper Tier D prospect in Barrie
Long Shot Forward Prospect with top end potential in Hishon
Depth D man in Hunwick

Only issue would be Nashville would have to sign Stastny to a contract extention prior to the trade.

Avs would also probably be willing to replace Stastny with a 1st or two and/or Duncan Siemens (still a top tier prospect) if the Preds preferred a full on futures deal that might be better for them in the long run if the idea is to build a better team that can contend again in 2-3 seasons.

So you guys get to keep Duchene, Landeskog, Mackinnon, Johnson, your 2014-18 1sts and we get an unristricted free agent and two defense prospects and a long shot forward project?

We COULD do that, or Weber could be the first predator to have his jersey retired after he finishes out his contract.

Colorado is one of the teams that has what it takes to trade for him, but you guys are going to end up regretting it if you did trade for him.

May be considered collusion, but is there a rule against it (in this form)? Legit question, I don't actually know. It's not like anyone is benefitting greatly from it - not like cap circumvention or anything. Can't see Bettman intervening if it's a Canadian team making an effort to help a smaller market American team on the financial end, all the while the package of players/futures is legit.

Avs could do it

Duchene, Barrie and a 1st

They would still have Stastny, ROR and MacKinnon down the middle and Elliot and Siemens as solid D prospects

Schenn, Schenn, Coburn/Meszaros (or both), your pick of 2 from the prospect litter (Laughton, Cousins, Morin, Hagg, Gostisbehere, etc.), and probably an early pick....or 1 of the prospects and 2 picks.

Probably still not enough. I'd toss in Read or Simmonds if needed.

Los Angeles can do it. We would have to part with a Kopitar and Nashville would have to take a Regher back. Plus some small stuffs.

Wow. That would be... Wow. Hmm. I'd have to think about that.

Brown - Carter - Williams
Frattin - Richards - Toffoli
King - Stoll - Lewis
Carcillo - Fraser - Nolan
Clifford

Weber - Doughty
Mitchell - Voynov
Muzzin - Greene

Quick
Scrivens

Hmm.

Kopitar + Regehr for Weber?

Yeah Nashville really is a defenseman factory. In the last 10 years they've drafted and developed

Weber
Suter
Hamhuis
Franson
Josi
Klein
Seth Jones

They also developed Kimmo Timonen and Marek Zidlicky.

Shame all of Van's top 4 are on NTCs. An Elder+ quality prospects/picks trade would have worked for both sides.

jmo..I'd rather trade Weber now instead of Josi. Nashville isn't gonna win anything with the current group of forwards/prospects no matter how good our defense is & the return for Weber would be insane. A top 4 including Jones, Josi & Klein for the long haul isn't half bad. The most attractive trade to me would be Hall + or Eberle + for Weber.

That being said, he isn't going anywhere.

Took 1.5 pages, but finally there is some sanity. The Preds aren't going to cut bait after paying out 1/4 off the contract's value already. Like it or not, those two are married until Weber retires or the Preds magically become a cap ceiling team.

The Lightning could get something done im sure.

A start could be Kucherov, Connolly, 2014 1st. What else would be needed to get the deal done?
