Any line combos surface yet?

A straight swap of Vanek and Moulson?

Been sick for a week and I have a new crazy fever dream every night, last night was Moulson-Hodgson-Grigorenko becoming a multi-point a night line, best night of being sick so far

Sabres were willing to make Thomas Vanek highest-paid player in NHL, source says, yet he'd rather have chance to win: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/...om-sabres.html

And everyone that wants to claim Vanek would have ever stayed here can now go home.

Not that many were.

This makes me very uneasy.

For the team to have long term success, they need to be able to assess value well and put exorbitant bids on the players who are truly worth it. Not Shane Doan. Not Ville Leino. And not Thomas Vanek.

Right now they're doing great at compiling picks and prospects, but in the long run, they're going to need someone who can put together an intelligently managed cap structure.

Since Pegula took over, that doesn't seem to be in Darcy's wheelhouse. Hearing this, I can definitely see the need to replace Darcy before he's the one cutting big checks again.

Ehh, that could be an unreliable source, or a reliable source that just wants to spin that they were/are player friendly and willing to pony up to keep top talent. I don't take anything from that.

My goodness, please tell me they arent doing this with Ryan Miller.

Highest paid in the NHL? I dont really know how to take this. Yes we dodged a bullet, Regier pulling the trigger again, but I really hate that we cant get 1st line players to stay or come to Buffalo.

If the Isles miss the playoffs then it's automatically a better pick and even with Vanek the Isles are no lock to make it. At the moment the Isles 1st round pick is at #13, I'd be happy if they stayed at that pick. The season is still so long that the Isles can go on a big losing streak and finish in the bottom 10.

How incredible would it be for us to finish dead last, Isles miss the playoffs and win the lottery and we end up with 1 and 2 ... Reinhart and Nylander/Ekblad ?!

I will say this, Vanek did end up returning more then Poms did.I can honestly see MM returning a big haul at the deadline turning the Vanek return into a kings ransom.

That will change with time... As we develop our own first line players and show a franchise committed to winning

Im not so sure, unless we have a Crosby like player. 2006, Sabres were the it team yet in Sports Illustrated NHL players voted Buffalo 2nd worst city to get traded to.

That story sounds more like Pegula loving Vanek and Miller and telling Regier to try everything to keep them than Regier's plan for the team.

Regier has always been a good soldier and done what the owner wanted.

So perception didn't magically change the moment the Sabres emerged as a good team
