It's funny seeing Stacy King on tv, because on the bench he acted like a college student when the Bulls were winning rings.

Still could be a long way away with the CSN deal still with 6 years left.

My guess is that FOX buys the rights to the WGN package and puts them on My50. Then gives them their channel in 6 years.

SportsChannel was ahead of its time. I remember my buddies who were Sox fans had cable for that reason only.

I wonder if Comcast buys the other half of the games for 6 years. Or possibly rip up the old deal and get a new 10 year deal for exclusive rights or something like that.

Does the Cubs' contact with CSN prevent them from creating their own specialty channel or only require them to air x # of games per year on their channel?

Without seeing the contract, who knows. But I believe Comcast just owns the rights to half of the games right now with the other half on WGN.

WGN will probably just end up paying a little bit more for the rights until 2019.

I remember (I think) reading somewhere that it does preclude them from creating their own station. Take that with a grain of salt though.

That was unexpected...

Can they just clone Pat Hughes and have two of him do the radio call?

Since the club does own 20% of the network, I would imagine it's in the deal that they can't go ahead and start a competitor to themselves.

But I obviously have nothing to prove that, just my blind speculation.

Agreed. He was such a terrible announcer.

Maybe we can convince Doug Glanville.

I kind of like the move. At this point the expectations are low for one more year and he will hopefully get Rizzo back to where he was.

Uh, managers can have a lot of impact on players. See, Sveum and Castro.

It'd be nice if he can tap into that good minor league split Rizzo had. So far, he's been trending towards Brandon Moss land.

Your point? Rizzo and Castro both showed that they have talent. Proper coaching is going to help them take the next step.

I understand your point with Castro. All Rizzo has done is prove he can rake in the minors. My point is that if Rizzo turns into a solid all-star 1B it's more on him than it is Renteria.

I know you follow the #'s way more closely than I do, but how much of an impact can you realistically attribute to the manager?
