Should I PM my creds or is public verification ok?

I sit next to the glass every game and bang bang bang away. I frequently yell "whoooooo" and always exultantly shout "Stars!" during the Star Spangled Banner. I can email ticket stubs if necessary.

Hey if your object is to suck, don't change a thing Ruff.

Let's give prime minutes to Horcoff and Cole. Let's not change lines and use the same ones that basically suck 3 out of every 4 games.

I just need someone to please tell me what veteran secret Horcoff has learned that means he's earned more in his career in Dallas than Vern Fiddler? I've never been a fan of Vern but dear god Horcoff makes him look like a selke candidate and yet Fiddler consistently gets less ice time and worse linemates. Why Ruff, why?

The dude that was banging on the glass today had a mustache and was a little heavier, but it's possible.

HF the comfort with which you use Fiddler's first name always makes me think he's actually your uncle or cousin or something.

Nah, it's just a great name. Vern...did his parents hate him or something? Now it's not as good as Buffalo's Rasmus or Jordie but ya know...

I'm pretty confident Nuke will get it offensively, but is anyone else pleasantly surprised with his defensive play? He doesn't get stuck into the dirty areas too much, but he really does have excellent anticipation and breaks up a lot of plays defensively. I think he can develop into a really good two way player in a few years.

Very happy with Nuke's defensive play so far.
It's easy to point out his lack of points, but he's doing a lot of other things right.

His hockey IQ is on the same level as Seguin, Benn, Chiasson, and Whitney. Just needs to put it all together with his talent and he's going to be pretty damn great.

Nuke sees everything. I just wish he'd get more physical... That could really blow him up in terms of production.

I don't quite see Benn/Whitney level of hockey IQ from Nichushkin but I'd like to be wrong.

I think there's a progression. Those two wouldn't have had the same level hockey iq at 18 as they do now. Nichushkin's hockey iq will elevate as he adapts to the style of game in NA. His rate of improvement from his first game is IMO very impressive and bodes well for the future as he is clearly a quick learner. If he can keep a similar rate of improvement going throughout the season he'll be doing very well.

He's playing far better than he did early in the year, and he looks better each & every game. I think when he finally does get a goal or two, he'll start scoring a bunch. On the defensive side, he's starting to resemble Loui a bit. Obviously not as polished or consistent, but he's showing some signs.

It's really early in Nichushkin's career, and he's much younger than Loui was when we first saw him in the NHL, but Loui was WAY better defensively and at all the small things early in his career than Nichushkin is now. I like the guy and hope he reaches the crazy heights we all hope he can but I'm going to seriously tap the breaks on a Loui comparison. The most glaring difference is along the boards. Even from him first game Loui was a beast along the boards. Nichushkin has a long way to go to deserve that kind of comparison.

To be fair, he did say "a bit." But I'd agree.

I'm just happy that his defence and work ethic are not as horrible as everyone made it out to be. He always seems to be the only forward forechecking on his line and the first forward back when the play goes the other way. Even if he's not producing offensively at the moment, he isn't hurting the team in many ways.

I also said 'resembled', 'not as polished or consistent' and 'showing signs'

The idea is that his playing style resembles Loui's. Not that he's anywhere close to Loui in quality of play.

Both have an effective, but non-attention getting defensive game. Not much in the way of huge hits, but quietly good. Both are long & lanky, and don't look like they're skating particularly hard but somehow are able to keep up with attackers while tracking back to help their D.

Might have flown off the handle there a bit. I acknowledge that you weren't saying he's as good as Loui defensively but aside from a couple things I just don't really see the comparison. You said Nichushkin isn't one for big hits but from what I've seen he has laid a hit on a guy a few times to separate him from the puck in defensive/neutral zone situations.

In any case, I'm also happy that he's not completely lost in the defensive part of the game, though right now I see more Brunnstrom than Eriksson.
