Way too soon to put the GDT up. Still have two other cards before this one.

Oh my bad then, anyway as for the OPs question. I am positive that Hendricks will win this one by KO/TKO. GSP has never faced anyone with the combination of KO power and wrestling that Hendricks has (don't bring up Koscheck, it's an insult to Hendricks). Hendricks was able to take Condit at will something GSP couldn't do as much in their fight.

It'll be the discussion thread, then I'll put the GDT up the week of the fight.

I think GSP wins via UD, as usual. I hope he KOs Hendricks but I see it being a dominant decision.

Hendricks has a shot but GSP is a cardio machine with better boxing, footwoork and wrestling. If Hendricks catches him, he can knock him out but if he can't...its going to be quite a beating for 5 rounds. Woodley/Koscheck is going to be atrocious if both guys revert to cuddling all night.

I don't see how Hendricks can K.O. Georges. he is just too damn good to get caught by midget johny. he even hired rick story to train with him. who is this rick guy you ask? the last guy to beat hendricks!

We saw signs of GSPs cardio slowing down last fight against Condit, it might have been due to ring rust or he could be slowing down...

I would be shocked if GSP executes (and does it perfectly) the same game plan he used against Koscheck.

Too bad MMA isn't that simple, Charlie Brenneman (who Hendricks beat btw) beat Story and he's no longer in the UFC, plus that fight was almost 3 years ago. Hendricks is the real deal and he's finished some tough opponents in Fitch, Kampmann in devastating fashions. He's grinded out wins against some big names like Condit and Koscheck.

St-Pierre is only an inch taller btw so is GSP a dwarf?

Almost 10in reach advantage and unbeatable wrestling. Should be a good fight. Jab, takedown, jab, takedown, superman punch, jab, takedown...

Maybe but Hendricks has never been in a 5 round fight with a pace pusher like GSP. Hendricks needs to pace himself and not gas out early.

And who was the last guy to beat GSP?

Sure it was ages ago but if you're going to beat him that might as well be the way to do it.

Hendricks isn't Dan Hardy ... his wrestling is really good and he throws missiles. I don't see GSP getting caught by one, but I do see him being more cautious on his feet than he had to be against Shields or Diaz or even Condit, who has great technique but probably doesn't have Hendricks's power.

Evans / Sonnen, Derrone / Dunham and Leites / Herman all look like good fights. Should be a good card.

GSP via UD, but I hope Hendricks KOs him in the 5th, preferably after GSP had numerous chances to finish the fight but chooses not to.

Like a few of you guys said here, I think GSP will push the pace and tire Johnny. It's a good challenge for GSP but I think he pulls out the UD.

GSP looked horrible against Diaz, and he wasn't quite himself against Condit either. Even before the layoff, he fought poorly against Shields too.

GSP at 100% is clearly superior to Hendricks, but I have to wonder if he will ever return to form. Recent history does not bode well for the champ, in my opinion. I have a feeling Hendricks is going to get the KO, but I really hope I'm wrong.

GSP looked horrible and still dominated every single one of those fighters?

I said he looked horrible against Diaz (who had no business being in the cage with GSP to begin with), which he did, at least when you consider what GSP at his best is capable of. He faded in that fight, and several of his takedown attempts, which were uncharacteristically bad, were thwarted easily by a guy who does not have good TD. There were rumors of GSP sustaining an achilles injury in or before that fight (which would likely have been one of the main reasons for his poor showing), but even if that were the sole cause of his subpar performance, the constant injuries do not bode well at all for his future. He took a fair bit of damage in this fight too, at least compared to his other fights.

The Shields fight, according to the scorecards, was GSP's most competitive fight as champion besides the Serra loss. Although GSP suffered an eye injury during the fight, his standup didn't look nearly as sharp as he's shown in the past against a guy with absolutely terrible striking. In particular, the way he kept going back to the overhand right despite it being mostly telegraphed and ineffective was surprising.

As for the Condit fight, I'd say that GSP took an uncharacteristic amount of damage. One of his best attributes is the way he avoids taking damaging shots, yet he seemed to be a bit more hittable than usual.

I just look at GSP's last few fights and factor in the knee injury and subsequent lengthy layoff (as well as his history of injuries sustained either in fights or training), and fear that his best days may be behind him. I hope he can rebound and get the win, but he simply hasn't looked 100% in quite some time.

He doesn't need to be 100% to beat Hendricks. And I'm not even a GSP fan. I just hope for a Condit rematch and then he can retire, hopefully beaten.
