Khabby for Emery?

Khabby for Emery?

Hell, The Hawks can throw in Beach.

I know Khabby isn't the solution to the Flyers goaltending problems, however neither is Emery..

You're right, the solution is Steve Mason.

In his 16 games with the flyers; 2.08 GAA .936 sv% and has been the best player on the ice for just about all of them.

Id rather have emery as a backup than khabibulin, as emery and mason are friends off the ice and are both good guys to have in the locker room.

The only reason why I proposed this was because the Hawks and Emery felt that Emery had an opportunity to win the #1 spot in Philly so they let him go and attempt to do that for respect for Emery. Obviously things haven't worked out there with Emery but I would love to have him back in Chicago backing up Crawford, playing the the exact defense he played with last season (and pretty much the same team in general) where he did so well.

Of course it would be a minor trade and considering the Flyers are out east it wouldn't be a that big of a deal.

Hell, it be nice if the Hawks could get in on a 3-way deal with Philly and the Jets to land you guys Byfuglien and the Hawks Emery.

Hell, I would offer Khabby, Beach and a 4th for Emery...IMO, I think Beach would fit the Philly system quite well, and all players involved could potentially benefit from a change of scenery...

The Hawks didn't let Emery go, he was a free agent and sought to win a starting job (which he wasn't going to get in Chicago with Crawford) and took less $$ than the Hawks gave Khabby. So your offer is a worse goalie (who makes more $$), a guy the Hawks waived and then "loaned" to a European team, and a 4th round pick? I think this would pretty clearly be a no from Philly - especially since Mason is guaranteed to keep this pace up.

Any fourth line penalty killers in Philadelphia?

to Chicago: Emery, PK Specialist

to Philadelphia: Khabibulin, Beach & 5th rounder

I wouldn't say Emery is doing that well in Philly either, He's just about as bad as Khabibulin has been with the Hawks...

BTW, I don't believe the Hawks even attempted to retain Emery, knowing after the season he had that he had a decent shot at signing somewhere as a #1 (money had absolutely NOTHING to do with it)....

Khabby isn't working out for the Hawks and Emery isn't working out for the Flyers....

Besides, Emery (value wise) doesn't have much more value than Khabibulin.... However I think Emery would be by far more successful backing up Crawford (as he did last season) than he will backing up Mason.... I don't know if the same could be said for Khabby in Philly - but hence the additional assets...

I wouldn't even expect a PK specialist back from Philly for Khabby. They could have Khabby, Beach and the 5th and I'd be happy.

No thanks, well stick with the guy who went 17-1 last season. Seems like hes giving Mason all the right advice.

You think Emery is giving Mason advice?

Emery is no Roy, Brodeur, Belfour etc - Hardly a teacher. I'm sure he brings an element of leadership but beyond that hes hardly a "goalie coach."

Emery went 17-1 last season because he played in front of the best D in the league and on the best team that season and won a cup doing it.

That's why I want Emery back - because the Blackhawks have hardly changed and we still have the same defense. Emery would be going right back into the same situation he left from.

People. Please stop saying the Flyers have goalie woes. Right now, that's the only woe we DON'T have.

So then where is the incentive for Philly?

Get a similar goalie, who is paid more, for crappy assets.

As for the advice thing, as others have said, they are friends off the ice. Goaltending is the one spot that Philly won't touch this year if things stay the same.

Why would Flyers want broke down Khabby and a bust in Beach?

Why would Hawks want Emery who iis struggling himself back with another year on his deal when they have Raanta?

If Khabby cant go anymore he will be waived (And likely not report to Rockford thus quietly retire) and Raanta will come up , Maybe Simpson if they want to save some cap room for a few weeks and let Raanta carry load in Rockford

Yeah, I'm sure quality goaltending and skill had nothing to do with it either.

Not very much anyway. Not that I see how a Hawksfan is using this as an argument in his "give us Emery back" thread, but Emery is not a great goalie.

Because Mason has been playing so well, Emery has played 2 games. You really think that's enough to qualify as "struggling'? 5 of the 8 goals he's given up were on the PP and both games were ones the skaters were no-shows in.

As an oilers fan who's experienced a few years of Khabby... Run Flyers fans, run far and wide away from this deal!
