Ha. The funnier thing is that it wasn't nuge against Kessel, it was gagner who was -4. ****ing guy doesn't even know who was on the ice.

Rob Brown on CHED...." the reason that Gagners line wasn't more successful against the Kessel line was just dumb luck".

Really Rob?

So apparently it had nothing to do with playing a Centre in Gagner who hasnt played all season and isn't very good defensively even at his best.

Wow.

There is somthing to this, Nuge and Hemsky hit crossbars. I remember one point in the game it was 2-0 and we hit a couple cross bars. I mean, it sounds like a excuse, but some times the pucks just don't go in. This team can't catch a break.

Sure the defense could be better. Goaltending wasn't the problem tonight but they could use an upgrade.

Everyone in the league knows that the Oilers have very talented young stars.

Besides a few more years to mature for the forwards, an upgrade on goaltending and a #1D, I don't see what else the Oilers need.

Nurse/Klefbom could be top pairing D, you can easily trade one of the forwards for a top pairing D and as the rest of them get older, they will get better.

I really think Christian Ehrhoff is a player the Oilers should target. Top pairing defenseman, wouldn't cost any of the young players you guys have and comes with a very cheap salary.

Ehrhoff is a smarter Justin Schultz (right now).
Ehrhoff would do wonders for the Oilers, I bet. Also gives them the opportunity to shelter Schultz more.

Goaltender is a given, not sure what would be available though. Perhaps Neuvirth out of Washington?

The thing I find most lacking from the games I've watched the last two seasons is two-way play among the forwards. Oilers defenseman are getting isolated, and that makes it very hard to look good.

The mayor at the time I think said that the citizens of Edmonton were Champions for rallying together and their efforts after the disaster

here's the excuse made for the Oilers:

-bad goaltending
-bad special teams
-injuries
-road trips
-lots of shots but can't finish
-new system
-need patience

I, for one, look forward to hearing what other doozies management and mouth-pieces (Stauffer) have in store for us

Agreed. Stauffer has been pathetic recently with his apologist comments.

It has to be tough on the player going from a motivational coach like Krueger to this Richard Simmons aerobic type Eakins. I really appreciate Krueger now. Oh well...

Sometimes you have to make your own luck.

Schultz hits the bar and the Leafs score immediately after. That was the game right there.

There isn't a single excuse for the Oilers to be this bad this year. Hell they got more goals against the Kings when they had half of the shots and a quarter of the zone time.

We've heard this tune before by the Oilers owned media. They'll defend the management/coaching/players to the death until they're told it's okay to run them out of town.

Neuvirth is terrible.

Oilers need to shore up D before goaltending. Ehrhoff would be the best possible target for the Oilers.

22-24 responsible minutes, capable of playing on the first PP and PK and has put up points when he has played with offensive talent.

Agreed. I love the potential core of this team, but the team is lacking structure from above the coaching staff.

Definitely more than a goal tending issue with the 'team'. IMO there's some major egos issues. For example- two $6 million/yr players are blatantly refusing to pass the puck to a teammate when he's wide open.
There's a coach who won't (can't?) line match and continues to play the so-called stars (who are too busy dangling, joining the rush at the wrong time, passing between the legs or behind the back, and turning the puck over more times than they carry it in) instead of stapling them to the bench or sending them to watch a game from above.
Guys like Gordon and Perron are out there hustling and playing with determination and fire while a bunch of other guys look like they're practicing their figure 8's? Maybe they are getting ready for the next round of Battle of the Blades?

What I can't understand is whether or not the team is playing the system with poor results or if some players are just out there doing their own thing?

I thought the team looked like a scrambled mess last year, but this year it's a lot worse. The pk and pp have been absolutely brutal compared to the past two years too.

Haha, there's a thread on the main board asking if the Oilers would hit .500 in the AHL.
