It is the players on the ice showing no effort?! Yeah holmgrem put this team together but he tried. These players are showing no heart at all its awful. How is it just paul everyone is ripping. Look at the skaters not doing **** on the ice. Honestly lock them all in a room and play this game on repeat so they see how much bs effort they are giving.

What? I question the judgment of anyone who thought this roster could compete for a division title. Even before the season started I thought this team would be fighting for a 7th or 8th seed. They've been even worse than that. But from the start there were huge holes in this roster. The defense was pretty obviously going to be bad since it was almost the same as last years terrible defense other than the addition off Streit which I don't think anyone saw as being that good. The goal tending was questionable though that has turned out better than expected. The forwards looked pretty good relatively all though LW was kind of weak.

What scares me as well is this is pretty much the same team that was pretty damn good in 11-12.

Lost: Carle, Briere, Talbot, Jagr and Bryz

Apart from Jagr and Talbot they were pretty much hogtied to those moves, and even then Jagr was a risk at age and injuries.

Gained: Streit, Lecavalier, Downie and Mason

Streit>Carle
Lecav>Briere
Downie>Talbot
Mason>Bryz

and Voracek stepped up into Jagrs position last year.

So is he big problem seemingly that Kimmo and Hartnell seem to have regressed heavily, so basically they have lost a 1PP guy and 40 point D man and a 55 point winger and Coburn not lived up to 11-12 performance?

Or is there more too it. As not much has really changed in personnel, and even then on paper it seems pretty equal.

Yeah, after the Bryzgalov disaster I don't know of anyone who thought we were more then a lower seed playoff team at the very best.

Don't know where this revisionist history is coming from.

Of course the players need to be held accountable, by trading some of them away as their is zero improvement with this set of players. Some of us have no faith in Holmer being the guy to be in charge of that, that why we want Hextall in charge.

Don't forget we have to "compete" with the Sabres too for them.

Yup, that makes me sad.

Had the Flyers missed the playoffs after a full season last year, I bet he would have been fired. The short season gave him some extra time.

This season has been an unmitigated disaster, though, so he'll be gone soon enough.

Didn't we have a ton of Holmgren coming down to talk to the team last season as well? Or am I remembering wrong?

Well I guess this comes down to you not seeing the same thing in him that I do. That being a 50+ pt potential, I'm basing this on his numbers the past two years and the fact that lots of players don't put things together until after 22 (Giroux, JVR and Voracek to name a few).

How does games played not having much to do with it exactly? People say players don't breakout until the third yr, I guess if they play like 130 games compared to about 240 in three yrs (should be close to 246 games) it doesn't matter much? I don't understand that logic at all.

Apparently COburn is coming back out for the 3rd with only 1 arm and no testicles.

My only points are that he's been given a ton of leeway and there's been a lot of knowledgeable fans asking for his head for a while now because he's been pretty hit or miss with most of his decisions since coming into town as GM. Overall he's actually regressed as a GM if anything since his start here.

Imagine if Homer went in there to strip the C right off of Giroux's jersey...

I hate too bring this up and do another told you so, but this team hasn't been a legitimate threat since Carter and Richards left. Boy that partying was really holding this squad back wasnt it

I think you quoted the wrong guy there.

Like I already said, I frankly don't care what happens to Schenn if we do rebuild. So I'm not sure why you're arguing with me.
