best

Claude is best player in game. The flyers will win the cup with Claude. They have to not trade picks. Keep the young talent and finish the building of team through the draft.

Giroux last 4 years (% of team offence, Direct is points, Indirect is on ice (only counting games he played in):

Direct involvement:

10-11: 76/256 (29.7%)
11-12: 93/247 (37.7%)
12-13: 48/132 (36.1%)
13-14: 86/233 (36.9%)

Overall: 303/868 (34.9%)

Indirect involvement:

10-11: 98/256 (38.3%)
11-12: 110/247 (44.5%)
12-13: 68/132 (51.5%)
13-14: 118/233 (50.6%)

Overall: 394/868 (45.4%)

The over 50% on ice is pretty crazy... two years back to back; very few forwards do that each year.

2013-14: Crosby, Kunitz and Giroux are at a quick look the only ones over 50% on ice for.

Indirect Involvement indicates times Giroux was on the ice for a goal but did not get a point as well as when he got a point I assume?

Yeh, it is just how many goals overall he was on ice for.

Story: My dad was one of the biggest Flyers fans and would have absolutely loved this. He wasn't even part of the organization. Somebody must have called and told them about him because we were all amazed to see this arrive today. We had no idea.
And I know he didn't write the letter but for Giroux to sign it means so much to me.
I can't explain just how much hockey meant to him and our relationship. I know the Flyers get a bad rap and we love to fight with our rivals but I figured everyone and anyone who's a hockey fan could appreciate this.

One guy I haven't seen mentioned in the last few pages is Bergeron. He's better than Claude as well. As I heard Bundy say a couple weeks ago, Bergeron could score 90 points if he wanted to but he sacrifices his offensive game for his defensive play and Bergeron draws the other teams top line on many nights. Giroux never has anything close to the defensive responsibilities that Bergeron does. Bergeron on our team would have more points than Giroux.

With all due respect I'll go with Bundy on this one. My post was essentially what he said with regards to the scoring and defensive responsibilities. He also added that for Giroux to become a better player he needs to add those defensive elements Bergeron possesses. I'm hardly out on a limb stating Bergeron is a better player than Giroux.

Sometimes we all need to remove our orange tinted glasses to objectively see things for how they really are, not how they appear to be.

Just because he isn't our main defensive player, doesn't mean he doesn't have defensive abilities. If you actually watch him play, he is a great defender, but the flyers need him to be a goal scorer and a playmaker. The flyers need him to be who he is, especially since we already have great two way players already like couturier. if we want him to, giroux could play first line pk time and would succeed, but that is not who philadelphia needs him to be. you honestly can't argue because bergeron is no where near the offensive player that giroux is. Giroux has 10x better hands than bergeron does and his shot is better as well.

Giroux is a better player than Bergeron, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Giroux is better defensively than people give him credit for while being a PPG player. Giroux doesn't need to sacrifice offense for defense when they have Coots shutting down top lines.

I'd rather have the extra 20-25 points Giroux provides when comparing to Bergeron.

Thank you for gracing us ignorant peasants with your wise words. Clearly you're the only one thinking clearly while we're all blinded by the shiny object in front of us. How could we be so stupid?

Oh lord, are we in the 'one of our players had 1 bad game so he's bunk' stage again, like with Voracek?

It's more than one game, it's something like 9 in a row at the Garden. Do all the other "superstars" in the league have any similar streaks of futility against a division rival like this? Hell, more pedestrian players don't have streaks like this.

Actually, I think most of the stars are struggling against them right now.

Actually yes, it's pretty common

for instance, both Crosby and Malkin has been mediocre against us

Really? Crosby and Malkin went 2 years without a goal against and did either one go 9 games without a goal against us too? Malkin maybe, but he's a Robin too. Maybe when they were out with injuries but it probably didn't go 2 years either. And neither one of them went without a shot three straight games against us. Mediocre maybe but far from abysmal like our guy.

If Malkin is another Robin...

Crosby is the only Batman in the league.

Though:

Malkin: Superman (Couturier is Kryptonite, and Malkin is stupid.)

Yeah I think he is. Probably the closest to being a Batman though. Don't see him leading a team to a cup and he's had chances with Crosby missing a lot of games over the years.

Really? Stamkos has around 7 goals and 14 pts in his last 13 games against the NYR. I didn't check anyone else.

Malkin did lead the pens to a cup...

Outscored Crosby in the reg and postseason and got a Conn Smythe.

He was the man in that playoffs... and that season.
