2000-09:
  • November 29, 2000 -- Mark Recchi scored twice in the third period including the GWG with 58.6 seconds remaining in the Flyers' 4-3 win at Columbus. Recchi also tied the game at 3-3 near the midway point of the third period. Both Recchi goals were assisted by Ruslan Fedotenko. Brian Boucher made 23 saves in the win. This was the first time the teams met and Tyler Wright scored the first goal in this series, but 13 seconds later the Flyers' Jody Hull evened the game. The Jackets held a 3-1 lead in the second period and 3-2 at the start of the final period. It was the first time the expansion Blue Jackets lost a game when leading entering the third period (6-0-1 prior mark).
  • October 6, 2001 -- In the first meeting in Philadelphia, the Flyers rallied for a 3-3 tie when Justin Williams scored with 4:14 to play. Columbus led 3-1 when Grant Marshall (2-0-2) scored his second goal of the game 1:11 into the third period. Kim Johnsson (2-0-2), who earlier scored his first goal as a Flyer, replied with his second tally to make it 3-2 Blue Jackets. Eric Weinrich, Simon Gagne, Williams and Johnsson each had two points. The Flyers outshot the Blue Jackets 40-18 including 29-10 from the start of the second period. Ron Tugnutt made 37 saves for Columbus. The Blue Jackets went 2-for-2 on the PP. Mark Recchi beat Espen Knutsen in a fight ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdvafHxL0EI ).
  • October 8, 2001 -- Simon Gagne and Jan Hlavac scored 50 seconds of each other in the game's final eight minutes and the Flyers skated to a 2-2 tie in Columbus. Hlavac's shot bounced off the skates of two Columbus players before beating goalie Marc Denis (30 saves). Serge Aubin gave the Blue Jackets a 2-0 lead early in the third period. Brian Boucher made 28 saves. Jesse Boulerice fought Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSnMq9I5J94
  • July 4, 2002 -- Luke Richardson, who spent the last five seasons with the Flyers, signed a four-year deal reportedly for $11 million with the Blue Jackets.

  • April 1, 2003 -- Columbus was limited to 10 shots in the Flyers' home finale, a 4-0 win. The Flyers held shot advantages of 12-3 through one period, 21-6 through two periods and 29-10 overall. Roman Cechmanek, who prior to the game was named the Flyers' MVP and winner of the Bobby Clarke Trophy, had his 20th career shutout and afterwards said "Ten shots is not nice for me. Sometimes I wasn't focused. I stand there for 10 minutes and nobody was shooting.'' Kim Johnsson scored in the first period and Jeremy Roenick made it 2-0 in the second period. Keith Primeau (0-2-2) assisted on the second and fourth goals. Tyler Wright of Columbus was a -4. Jim Vandermeer was a winner in a fight against David Ling. Simon Gagne returned after missing 13 straight games and 29 of 31 with a right groin injury (Gagne played in the final three games of the regular season).
  • December 10, 2003 -- Sami Kapanen scored with 1:08 left in regulation and the teams played to a 1-1 tie in Columbus. Earlier in the game, Kapanen lost up to four teeth when an errant stick from teammate Donald Brashear caught him in the mouth. Fred Brathwaite made 40 saves for Columbus as the Flyers held a 41-20 shot advantage, including 8-3 in overtime. Manny Malhotra, picked up on waivers less than three weeks prior, scored in the first period. The Flyers improved to 17-3-7-1 in their 28th game of the season including 13-1-4-0 in their last 18; however, the Flyers went 2-3-2-3 to finish the calendar year.
  • December 13, 2005 -- Robert Esche made 23 saves and Peter Forsberg, Jeff Carter and Sami Kapanen each scored in the 3-1 home win. The Blue Jackets had a 1-0 lead less than six minutes into the game. The Flyers had seven minors in the second period compared to two for Columbus. The Flyers killed seven of the eight PPs awarded Columbus including 3:02 of a two-man power play. Carter won 10 of 13 faceoffs.
  • November 24, 2006 -- Mike Richards scored his first goal of the season, in the third period, and Antero Niittymaki made 39 saves in the Flyers' 3-2 home win. The Flyers ruined the Columbus coaching debut of Ken Hitchcock. Freddy Meyer made it 2-1 and he also had an assist. Rick Nash's tally with 19 seconds left in the second period knotted the score 2-2. Columbus outshot the Flyers 41-22 and Fredrik Modin had 10 shots. Hitchcock was fired by the Flyers October 22, 2006 after a 1-6-1 start. He coached his 758th regular season game as a head coach in the NHL. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouHQBMuPbnI

  • June 20, 2008 -- R.J. Umberger and the Flyers' 2008 fourth round choice (Drew Olson) were traded to Columbus for Colorado's 2008 first round choice (previously acquired, Philadelphia selected Luca Sbisa) and Columbus's 2008 third round choice (Marc-Andre Bourdon).
  • December 27, 2008 -- Steve Mason made 20 saves in Columbus' 3-0 home win, the Blue Jackets' first victory against the Flyers in franchise history. Mason lowered his NHL-best GAA to 1.87. The Flyers were shutout for the first time in 76 games. Columbus was blanked in the prior two games and hadn't scored in 131 minutes, 8 seconds before Jan Hejda scored. Defenseman Kimmo Timonen didn't play due to an injury suffered the night before in Chicago. Weather in the Chicago area prevented the Flyers from their scheduled post-game departure and the team didn't arrive in Columbus until mid-afternoon. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I0npk5k5-8
  • October 20, 2009 -- Stefan Legein was acquired by the Flyers in exchange for Michael Ratchuk.

2010-2014:
  • January 19, 2010 -- Jeff Carter scored twice (22nd time in his career), won 14 of 18 faceoffs, snapped a 2-2 tie with an incredible maneuver and was chosen the game's top star in Philly's 5-3 home win. Carter's impressive play ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oPPPg8XIUw ) culiminated with a shot directly off a faceoff win which beat goalie Mathieu Garon (25 saves, 30 shots) who was eventually replaced by Steve Mason (7 saves, 7 shots). The play came about a minute after Ian Laperriere fought Mathieu Roy ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxbn2Ef4Vnc ). Daniel Carcillo, Chris Pronger and Arron Asham also scored. Ray Emery made 25 stops for the victory. R.J. Umberger scored consecutive goals for the Blue Jackets which tied the game 2-2 and nearly completed a hat trick leading to Flyers' fans prematurely tossing hats onto the ice. Said Umberger "I've never seen that before, where a player from an opposing team gets that response. I had great times and it's nice to see them appreciate the effort I put in and how much it meant to be a Flyer." Kristian Huselius had three assists. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_hYgD6znkE

  • October 25, 2010 -- The Flyers dropped a 2-1 decision in a listless performance that was described by head coach Peter Laviolette as "The first 40 minutes, there was nothing there. There was no jam to our game. We played mindless hockey without any energy. Without any passion.” Mathieu Garon made 28 saves and Kyle Wilson and Derick Brassard scored. Ville Leino scored the lone Flyers' goal with 5:01 to play. The struggling Flyers' PP went 0-for-2 and was 3-for-35 eight games into the season.
  • February 28, 2011 -- Tom Sestito was acquired from Columbus for Michael Chaput and Greg Moore.
  • June 23, 2011 -- Jeff Carter was traded to Columbus for Jakub Voracek, the Blue Jackets' 2011 first round pick which was eighth overall (Sean Couturier) and Columbus' 2011 third round pick (Nick Cousins).

  • November 5, 2011 -- The Flyers led 5-0 through the first period and clobbered Columbus (2-10-1 entering the game) 9-2 in Philadelphia. Eight different Flyers scored which tied a team record set four other times, the most recent being October 23, 1983 (Toronto). Fifteen Flyers had at least one point and seven had multi-point efforts led by James van Riemsdyk (1-2-3) and Jakub Voracek (1-2-3). Sean Couturier (2-0-2) scored twice including a 3-on-1 SHG. Ilya Bryzgalov made 33 saves. The Flyers led 2-0 at the 3:09 mark and after the next goal Steve Mason (21 saves, 28 shots) was replaced by Allen York (3 saves, 5 shots); Mason returned to start the second period and went the distance. The Flyers 5-0 lead after the opening period is believed to be the eighth such occurrence in team history. The Flyers led 8-0 after two periods; the most recent time the Flyers led by eight goals after two periods was October 18, 1984 (Vancouver). The Flyers were outshot 21-6 in the third period and 35-33 in the game. Matt Carle was a +5 and Eric Gustafsson was a +6, the first Flyers' rookie to be +6 since Thomas Eriksson, Rich Sutter and Ron Sutter in a 1984 game. The Flyers were +27 while Columbus was -28. The last time the Flyers scored nine goals was February 6, 1997 (Montreal). Wayne Simmonds beat Derek Dorsett in a fight ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mtmh1gT0bRc ). Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qh66CZ5df4o

  • June 22, 2012 -- The Flyers acquired three draft picks for Sergei Bobrovsky. The Flyers received Ottawa's 2012 second round pick (Anthony Stolarz), Vancouver's 2012 fourth round pick (Taylor Leier) and Phoenix's 2013 fourth round pick which was later traded to Los Angeles for Simon Gagne.
  • April 3, 2013 -- The Flyers acquired Steve Mason from Columbus for Michael Leighton and their 2015 third round draft choice.

I'd love to be the team that takes Toronto's wildcard spot. Like pretty much everyone except Toronto fans, Toronto annoys me.

Start off on the right foot by scoring foot and don't take you foot off the petal. Unload on them.

But I would still like to take their spot away from them unless we take 3rd in the Metro

B. Schenn is on the ice at practice (morning skate).

Based on the morning skate, Mason is the starting goalie for tonight.

Edit: B. Schenn is now confirmed to be playing tonight.

We go into the play-offs if we win tonight. Means we'll lose.

4 wins in the next 6 would be IMO pretty great, and quite feasible.

Both vs Columbus and any 2 of Minny, Van, Oilers and Calgary.

I think they are almost guaranteed a loss vs Van though, Minny at home and the Alberta teams should be possible wins.

I've lost count, but I'm somewhere around 25-3 watching the Flyers live (and one of those losses was in 1989), so don't count 'em out yet.

Ok, so 3 out of 4 wins. Nice.

I really hope Schenn is actually OK and not trying to just play through to be a 'hockey player'. He said he doesn't even remember being hit. The flyers doctors also don't have the best track record with these things...

We should all get a fund together to pay you to watch every game every season.

Well it's easier to root against Columbus when Bob is out. If he was in, I'd want a 1-0 win. Now we can destroy them

I'm fairly certain Bonvie (the scout) lives in PA.
