It's just so awesome to see Jagr in Beast mode. He entered beast mode for the Flyers with Giroux and it was quite magical. Just sick back and enjoy it, hope he doesn't get injured because Jagr in beast mode is unstoppable. He is building chemistry with his linemates and its just so fun watching them eat up minutes in the offensive zone.

As for Jagr getting 30 goals, i think it is doable. He would need 17 more in 60 games. If the team continues to play well he could easily get 5 or more empty net goals alone... and then he will surely get a couple to 5 on the power play. So that just leaves around 10-15 needed even strength and i think he will do it.

You can't underestimate Jagr entering Beast mode. Confident cocky jagr destroys teams. Let's just hope he can keep the confidence up and stay healthy.

If he keeps this up, he may be my most favourite player in history, and I'll be forced to buy a Jagr jersey. Even if he stays for just the year. Small price to pay to commemorate an awesome year.

Confident and cocky for sure. Watch him in the post game TV interviews lately? Just a gas. Never agrees with what they're feeding him; won't take the soft ball cliché you lob him and hit it; always insists on his own line, a little ironic (great little smile, movie star looks) -

They ask him about Marty passing the puck last night: his answer? "Maybe passes better than some of our defensemen."

Love it.

Although I'm sure Jaromir got an earful(in a good-natured way) by Greene and Zids afterward with Patty laughing in the background.

He is also right. Marty is a better passer than all our dmen. Which is why we suck at getting the puck out of our zone most of the time.

However I have to disagree with livewell68, that Jagr will be a PPG player this year. I remember words of Jagr's physiotherapist Kolar, who said, that at this age is impossible to be in the top form for the longer period of time. He can completely dominate a few games, but there will be matches, where his body will not work and he will be slow. Also besides his 2+2 in the first game of last season, Jagr's point limit seems to be 2 and its simply not enough for PPG pace, because there will be lots of games, where Jagr gets no points.

If I could try to predict, I think, he is able to have 60-70 points, but only if he remains healthy and coach will continue to let him play around 18 minutes.

Another thing I have to say is, that I am pleasantly suprised, how much Jagr improved his defense. It seems, that playing next to Bergeron helped him a lot. To call him two-way player seems to be a little bit overstated, but Boston fans used to say, that Jagr was defensive liability (I did not agree with them even in the last season) and he definitely is not defensive liability this season. In fact he is better ES player than PP player now. I dont understand why he does not use his deadly one-timers any more, but I suppose, it could be because of his shoulder injury from Rangers-Devils play-off series. Its a shame, because he became 20-goal player instead of 50, he used to be before.

In any case, Devils style of hockey seems to be like tailored for him. He is one of the best corner/board players in the history of this game and in the Deboer's system every attack ends in the corner. Also there are just a few fast players in the team, which makes Jagr to be average skater . I would be thrilled if there is a possibility that Jagr is signed for next year.
Pretty spot on. And your prediction of 60-70 points seems reasonable, as he is on track for 29 goals and 66 points at the current pace. Which I would sign up for in a heartbeat.

The question is, will Jagr hit 700 goals this season? I think it will be tight.

It's all just an amazing coincidence.

And if you think about it, 4 of 5 new editions Olesz, Brunner, Clowe and Ryder haven't been major contributors. Ryder maybe shouldn't be named with those others though.

The biggest addition was a subtraction.

When Jagr was a Ranger, you heard rumors of a problem in the locker room. And when you watch him in the media, you can see why in some rooms that could be: hockey players are jocks (duh!) and Canadian ones at that mostly, while Jagr is quite a cool guy, in that central European - Saxony and Czeck (spelling sorry) republic way: articulate, irreverent, a bit sarcastic, doesn't see the point in false modesty, and also he's just frank. And he is one of the all time greats. Some locker rooms, who knows, you could have a problem, some guys - central Ontario culture - who knows, might not appreciate his rock star bearing and mentality . . .

but not here. Every Room has its own culture and in New Jersey it seems like a perfect fit. With Brodeur his equal and Elias also having Czeck culture, and these young kids who can legitimately look up to him, this couldn't be better.

Maybe he's lost some weight?

My God great play last night. That last goal tying the game, just no miss, no hesitation, bangs the stick on the ice, gets the pass from Patrick, no mistake. (Contrasting visions of Kovaluchuk hitting the crossbar with five seconds left in game two of the Stanley Cup final vs. Quick).

I think a lot of Jagr's gelling with the guys here comes down to the Lou-culture. Lou's rules create a very unique locker room environment that emphasizes internal competition to beat your old records and do your very best as opposed to comparing yourself with the other guys in the room. Guys like Marty and Jagr, who might **** off guys in another locker-room nature with their almost zen-like focus on self-improvement that comes off as stand-offish, fit just right here.

Coincidence nothing.

Since Cam scored his first goal the whole team's demeanor has turned around. Took the pressure of expectations off of everyone.

The major addition was Jagr (with Gelinas being a distant second), period...and a Jagr that somehow turned the clock back a couple years and Marty has done the same. IMO they've been great for each other. Not to mention him and Zubrus have finally found Zajac's offense.

I'm not convinced we're 'fixed' yet when we haven't even had a three-game winning streak though. When we're not so reliant on 41-year olds I'll feel a bit better. But at least they're almost through the depths of hell schedule still afloat.

I must admit i wasn't sure how he would fit. But i am loving every part of him, on and off the ice.

if he keeps this up, i'm going to have to get a Jagr jersey, even if he was here for just one year. he is a legend of the sport, and this is just amazing to watch him play.

If he scores a goal today he will tie Mario. That is awesome. Two players who played side by side in the early 90's. I have no idea how long I will have to wait for another player to have this many goals.

Just remembered Selanne is up there to. The Finnish flash!
