Congrats to MCW. Now we just gotta keep building through the draft.

Hopefully MCW works on his mid-range game/3 pt shooting; that was his biggest negative this year.

Also would like to see him get stronger as well. Lottery can't come soon enough.

1 week away until the lottery. Anyone gonna watch the combine? Kind of disappointed Wiggins, parker, and embiid won't participate.

Please Basketball Gods, Reward us with the 1st pick. We've suffered enough.

I heard them talking on CSN this morning about potentially trading Noel and/or MCW...doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. The analyst said it wouldn't happen either, but why would that even come up? The conjecture is that trade MCW and draft Exum, trade Noel and draft Embid. Seems like a lot of work to make a lateral move (with potential to go up or down).

I personally take anything CSN has to say with a grain of salt most of the time. They ask questions like "Why not trade MCW because his value may never be higher?"

It all stems from the sixers potential draft position that brings up these questions. It is preferred by most that we get a wing player of Wiggins or Parker, but if we are picking 3rd or 4th or even 5th what exactly do we do? I personally go BPA, I don't really have interest in trading down. I'm just hoping we stick in the top 3, top 2 preferred.

84% chance at top 4 and keeping the Pelicans pick. Sounds good to me.

They need the #1 & Wiggins, otherwise they'll be stuck in purgatory.

Maybe I'm confused on how the NBA lottery works (and also math/statistics) but how can it be most likely that we wind up with the 4th pick? Don't we have the second most balls in there? Shouldn't it be most likely we wind up with the 2nd pick? Like shouldn't it be 2, 1, 3, 4, 5... or whatever? And how can it be more likely that we get the 1st pick???

That's Wiggins. You can see why they need him. He's a stud and a superstar in the making. The kid has ridiculous talent and under Brown would probably be a Top 5 player in the game.

Because it's a lottery for the top 3 picks so even though the Sixers have the second best odds there's still 12 teams behind them that can leap frog them.

Still doesn't make sense to me that our most likely outcome is #4, then #1. I hate math.

Wow. He was my #1 choice even before I saw that.

I thought I read that the highest probably of #4 is that in the history of the lottery, the team with the 2nd worst record has ended up #4 overall the most times.

The way the NBA does it is crap. There is no way that the worst or 2nd worst teams should ever get the 4th or 5th pick.

I like the NHL's way, Bottom 14 get a shot @ 1, from that point on, everybody shifts down.

This explains why we have a better chance at the 4th pick than 2nd. If the Bucks win the lottery and get the 1st pick we will still have the best chance at getting the 2nd pick and then if necessary the third pick. After that it's no more lottery and the remaining teams get the rest of the picks based on their record. So if we don't win any lottery for the first, second, or third pick we would be given the fourth pick. (Unless the Bucks didn't win the first, second, or third either they would get fourth and we would get fifth).

Quote:
1000 different outcomes of an experiment exist and are equally likely to occur. A certain number of outcomes is assigned to each non-playoff NBA team. The largest number of outcomes is assigned to the team with the worst record. The team with the second worst record gets the second largest number of outcomes, and so on for each of the 14 teams in the lottery. The experiment is conducted, and the team to which the winning outcome was assigned receives the 1st pick in the NBA draft. The experiment is conducted again. If the winner is the same team that already won, the experiment is performed over again until there is a different winner. The winner of the second experiment receives the 2nd pick. The winner of the third experiment receives the 3rd pick. After the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd picks are determined, the 4th-14th picks are assigned to teams based on weakness of record.
