Statistically, Canadian Men are getting married later than any other recorded time period in the history of our country. Just after WWII, the average age when first married for Canadian Men was ~22 years old.

... as of 2008, it's 31.1 years old.

I will take evander Kane in a heart-beat. Just the type of player on you need to play with Spezza. I hope Zibby becomes that.

Sarcasm.

It's just we have Wiercioch, Turris and Karlsson on the Sens. So young. Kane is even younger

Is this only including first marriages? Because if not, then the divorce rate is skewing the stats to make it seem like people are putting off marriage til later in life.

Those stats usually only include first marriages. End of OT!

Only includes first marriage.

Anecdotally, I got married at 25, in 2005, and for the longest time (maybe... 3-4 years?) my wife and I were the only people in our circle of friends who were married.

Personally, I would love Kane. Both for what he brings on the ice and off of it. But, the unfortunate truth is the city of Ottawa cannot handle a player like Evander Kane. This is why I "lol irl" when I see serious proposals for Wayne Simmonds. I mean, really? Ray Emery lasted all of what, 2 seasons here before he was driven out? And that was for a few late appointments and running an old man off the road. You really think Kane, Byfuglien, Stewart, etc. could hit the market more than once or twice without the town gathering a possy? These talented players would be gone sooner than they came in this city.

Honestly I'm surprise Karlsson lasted this long with that hippie lettuce...

Yup ... Emery was bought out because he was black. LMAO.

Not for missing flights.

Not for all the [rumors of extracurricular substance abuse, rumors which are completely unsubstantiated and unconfirmed] <--- MOD EDIT.

Not for the fights with teammates.

Not for the declining level of his play.

Not for missing practice (cue the Iverson clip).

Let us all not forget that this guy couldn't find NHL employment following his buyout in Ottawa.

While racism surely exists in the NHL, and likely exists to some small degree within the Ottawa Senators, Ray Emery was dropped by the Sens based on his actions not his race.

Which Kane, Stewart etc., are beyond capable of, right?

With the slandering that came out of Ottawa after they departed ways I'm not surprised.

I agree with that. Does't mean other players bringing in a similar culture will be taken any lighter though.

Like I said; I'm a fan of these players both on and off the ice. Can't be said for the rest of Ottawa though. (WINK WINK)

Can't you just see this on the front page of the Sun with all the "educated" editorial pieces that would follow it? Garrioch wets himself to the thought.

I hope you are not implying that Ottawa is so racist that it wouldn't be able to handle minority players on it's pro hockey team.

I really, really hope that's not the point you are trying to get across here.

No, I wouldn't use *racist* per se. I'd say we're more overly pc if anything. So much so that we can't handle the thought that young African American/Canadian/etc. act as they do within their own cultures. Ethnicity is celebrated in looks but not in practice.

Definitely questionable character - I mean the man's a multimillionaire and he's still drinking your standard Bacardi white rum?

Edit: How is EK controversial in Ottawa?

Have ANY of them ever done these things?

With the slandering that came out of Ottawa after they departed ways I'm not surprised.

Slander is a pretty severe term. Perhaps the most "slanderous" report about Ray Emery came from a senior citizen who was accosted by Emery. No one disputes this. Emery did it.

I agree with that. Does't mean other players bringing in a similar culture will be taken any lighter though.

If they bring a culture of pure partying, disregarding practice and fighting with teammates.... I hope they get kicked off the team too.

Like I said; I'm a fan of these players both on and off the ice. Can't be said for the rest of Ottawa though. (WINK WINK)

I'm a fan of them too and I'm not a fan of Ray Emery's last season here. Do you see the disconnect?

Those guys don't act like jumped up **********.

Was Emery not celebrated during his good season? Was he not praised for his flashy fashion sense? Was he not granted a lucrative contract?

But while we're at it, how is partying, showing a poor work ethic and assaulting senior citizens a part of black/african culture in North America?

NOTHING that Ray Emery did had anything to do with culture. If you generalize it that way it's an insult to the likes of Anson Carter, Wayne Simmonds, Joel Ward, Jarome Iginla, Mike Grier, and yes, Evander Kane. They work(ed) hard to be quality NHL players and might be offended to be lumped in with Ray Emery (specifically in reference to his years in Ottawa).
