I'd be all over that deal if not for our lack of defense at the moment.

6-6 220 pound forward that can skate and score. Excellent

Not even 15 games in, taking away from our only position of strength(goaltending) , I don't like this...

Only one goaltender can play at a time. That's kind of the issue.

To a divisional rival of all places.

Unless the Sens are falling out of the race and absolutely desperate I don't see them trading a goalie anyway.

And one is a rookie with what, twenty NHL games under his belt?

Goalies tend to take a while to develop consistency at the NHL level, giving the reins to Lehner without anyone to insulate him is a recipe for disaster.

I'd love for Lehner to take the ball and run with it, and he very well could, there are just too many examples of young goalies crumbling from the expectations of being a starter before they're ready.

We can only trade Anderson if we get back a player who is guaranteed to play 5+ years with us. To me, that means Gudbranson, Huberdeau, Bjugstad or Barkov need to be in the return. Seems very, very unlikely. I cant see us dealing Anderson for Campbell, Fleischmann, Versteeg or any of their impending UFAs.

Sure, he's a fine player but didn't even score ppg in college.

The Boston beat writer suggested that we'd be getting a forward back

That makes no sense, our weakness has been our D, we don't need forwards; even our prospects at that position are pretty good

He did have a 25 goal season, plus just from the 1 NHL game I've seen him play he's gonna be a player. Not sure I'd do Ceci for him but its close...

I have to admit that we do seem to quickly approaching a situation that when teams find themselves there management makes a move to shake it out. Sometimes its a coaching change (not gonna happen here) but often its a trade.

I feel like everyone not named Spezza, Karlsson, Ryan, Methot, Lehner, or Turris might be available for the right price. Especially the guys who aren't playing very well but still have enough value to bring back a nice piece.

A situation that I can see happening is kind of like the Turris deal, you take our struggling young player with upside, and we'll take yours. Like a Cowan for Gudbranson type situation?

Just feels like we're primed for a move, especially if we lose tonight. If a move is gonna be made to shake things up, it has to be soon before to much ground is lost. Standing pat is only an option if management has the confidence that this team can turn it around.

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with this mix going forward...

Anderson's second efforts has been pathetic, lately. I want Lehner in.

Anderson is very fragile, mentaly. Lehner, on the other hand, is a fighter till the death.

just playing along with the rumor.

Going off Melnyk saying we can take on a guy that has an expiring contract, the reporter suggesting a forward, that would suggest Brad Boyes or Marcel Goc.

As for the defense possibly going the other way, he suggested it was not an immediate help. We are loaded on LHD. This could be Borowiecki.

My suspicion is Boyes for Boro.

That is if any of that were true.

the Sens just gave Boro a one-way (without NHL experience), suggesting they are very high on him. Boyes on the other hand didn't get a contract from anyone til september. If the Sens were that high on him they would have signed him in the summer. I'd bet a 1000 bucks that's not the deal.

Really hope it's Matthias.

Would love to add Kopecky or Fleischman as well. A lot of good options to trade for on that team.

Drew Shore would be a solid pick up as well. He's the most likely target in my mind. A guy that still has solid potential and wouldn't cost a ton to acquire, and we just drafted his brother Quentin in the 6th round last year.

Would make a lot of sense.

They gave Boro the one-way contract hoping it might help him reach the next level (I'm guessing)

He didn't make the cup after camp

I don't think he'll ever be good enough for the NHL but lots of time left for him to prove me wrong

They gave JOB a 2 year 1 way contract. How high on him are they?

Boyes has 5 goals so far this year and is making $1M.

Boyes was in the same situation as Mason Raymond.

While I understand the complaints that the Sens need defence. I believe that, with the exception of the Turris line. We don't have the puck enough to keep it out of our zone. Watch tonight's game when Michalek or Greening has the puck. They don't carry it. They treat it like a hot potato and toss it away to somebody else.

They were certainly high on JOB in 2012. Had very very good season in 2011-12, and playoffs too.

Yes he has 5 goals so far, but he also had 35 points last year. This isn't a surprise, should be/have been obvious what Boyes can do.

Yes, Boyes was in the same situation as Raymond. Why would the Sens be interested in him 10 games in but not in the summer?
