Awful trade for Colorado. But Downie is redundant in Philly. More in works, i assume.

Tanking at 10-1 or on their way to building an all-PQ team?

I can't find any sense in this for the Avs.

Man Colorado is smart. Think about it! Who is going to be more important in the playoffs Steve Downie or Max Talbot..IMO Talbot. Colorado would've paid a lot more for Talbot at the deadline..they get him now for way cheaper!! This move is going to be a big time move down the road. Very impressed. Colorado is for real and do they ever have smart management.

Richards, Briere, Bryz and Talbot. Linking factor? Players my girlfriend genuinely liked and followed. I'm going to have to put her down if she shows any affection for Claude.

Even if Downie wasn't going to re-sign, why the hell would you trade him now? The Avs are rolling right now, absolutely no need to mess with the team chemistry, and if you are going to trade Downie do it at the deadline.

Bad trade for the Avs. Downie has been tremendous so far this season.

Well, the Flyers just traded away a big component of their PK; which was one of the only things they were in the top 10 in the league for

Joe Sakic on Downie for Talbot trade with Flyers: "Maxime is a veteran forward who has won a Stanley Cup and has a lot of NHL experience."
Veteran forward? He's 29 and on pace for 16 points. He's also a centre. He won a Stanley Cup 5 years ago playing bottom 6 minutes on a team led by Crosby and Malkin.

This is a baffling movie. Talbot is sliding into journeyman status. Downie must have really pissed off someone in the organization. Surely they could have gotten a better offer for him though.

No not at the current time. It was for most of the young season but Parenteau was moved up from MacKinnon's wing.

I don't understand this at all. I guess I understand adding playoff experience, but not at the cost of downie.

As a Pens fan im really happy to see an old fan favorite leave Philly. But then again, as a Pens fan im really pissed to see Downie added to this rivalry.

It really isn't Talbot is awesome. Brings grit, faceoff ability, and is a hell of a penalty killer. I'm surprised the Flyers moved him. I haven't seen downie play for a while. Not sure why everyone is so high on him. He's a headcase with talent, but how disciplined can he be?

There's literally no way this is a bad deal for the Flyers. They have good center depth to start with, Laughton in the wings, and a need for a middle-six winger.

This makes little sense to me for either team.
