you have to ask yourself, does this make philly a better team? No, it does not. Not gonna happen dude. You want simmonds, you have to trade something you don't want to move.

What would be the point to that trade? Aren't Smid and Coburn pretty much the same player?

Would Philadelphia bite on this proposal?:

Simmonds and Coburn for Eberle, Edmonton's 1st, Smid? I'd add a decent defensive prospect on Edmonton's end as well if necessary.

Too much from Edmonton. Smid and Coburn are fairly interchangable in terms of value, maybe a slight advantage to Philly, so you're basically offering Eberle and a 1st for Simmonds. Not close.

I wouldn't consider Smid and Coburn interchangable at all. Smid is a #4 on an average team and has no offensive ability, Coburn is a #2, rougher, tougher and has infinitely more offensive ability

I can't imagine why any team would want a 1st overall pick who has the potential to be a 40 goal scorer. Those guys are picked up on waivers all the time.

Coburn is not a #2 on a good team, unless he was playing beside a Chara or Pronger type player. #3, maybe even a #4. I wouldn't say he's tougher either, and his offense leaves a lot to be desired, although it is better than Smid's. He's a good 2nd pair d-man, like Smid. Probably has a little bit more value, but not enough to cover the spread on an Eberle and a 1st of Simmonds deal.

Voracek is better than Shattenkirk and Stewart.

What?

I would do that in a heartbeat.

Love Voracek but Shattenkirk is a stud and big fan of Stewart and his story.

if it's the Blues i love this for Philly. sucks losing JV but to get a young PMD is exactly what the team needs. and the thought of having a team with Hartnell, Simmonds, Downie, Stewart and Rinaldo would be so much fun to watch each night. it'll be the 70s all over again in Philly.

if it's the Oilers, something like Hartnell or Simmonds + Coburn for Eberle would be good. please no Yak. he's gonna be a bust.

Id say perron for simmonds would be a good trade

perron costs paajarvi

so simmonds should cost similar

D garners bigger return than F

Simmonds and Coburn + 2nd for yak, Smid

Out of STL wouldn't surprise me if a trade was made to unite Simmonds and Stewart who are very close friends. Maybe Simmonds, Laughton, and a 3rd for Shattenkirk?

Read has been playing LW with Couturier and Simmonds on the 3rd line. He has played mostly RW with the Flyers. He has rarely played C since coming into the NHL, although he is capable of doing so.

We aren't getting rid of Shattenkirk for depth pieces and picks.

The value is there. Not sure what the Perron discussion is referencing though, lol.

Lets try to land Stewart. With Read?

Downie-G-Lecavalier
Hartnell-Schenn-Voracek
"Stewart"-Couturier- Simmonds

From Edmonton there is only Petry and Smid that is nice, Ju.Schultz too but he isnt avaible..

Why does everyone want to trade Matt Read....does anyone actually watch him play?!!? This is insane...not the proposal but the fact that every person wants to get him of a guy like Read.

Blues can't absorb a winger without trading one out. There just isn't room. Steen, Oshie, Stewart, Tarasenko, Schwartz, Sobotka, Paajarvi, Morrow, Reaves, etc. When healthy, Paajarvi and Morrow (both have what looks to be short term injuries) have been on 4th line duty.

Again, we do not need depth pieces. The only thing that we would have interest in is Vinny and Giroux.

No. Too much going back to edm and I want to see how Morin develops. Couturier and a 3rd or 4th is the most that we'd add there

Edmonton would have to add more. Issue with it, is that They have centers now that Gagner is back, and Morin is several years off from being able to help. It would have to be bigger to include someone who can help out the blueline now.
