Yakupov + what for McDonagh? Would be best to hold onto 1st, would a prospect do it?

Honestly? I'll probably get grilled for this but I'd do Yak & Klefa.

I would probably make that deal. We don't know what we have in Klef and there is no guarantee that Klef will be a top pairing guy.

Yak has a little more probability to become what he is projected to be but Mcdonagh is already a top pairing guy with more room to grow.

I would do it too, although I'd rather it be Eberle than Yakupov.

McDonagh ain't coming here.

Kreider has major upside and has the size and compete we need in the top 6.

But I'm not dealing Yak for Kreider...not a chance

i love yak and would prefer eberle go but i agree, a top 2 of nurse/McDonagh and petry as your #3 makes this team exponentially better in 3 years.

Exactly my thoughts too, even if you have to overpay a little bit to get a guy like McDonagh, then it's still worth it. Even if it means Yak being moved out.

The three you mentioned above would be an awesome top 3, plus any of J.Schultz, Ference, Smid and a few of our prospects that turn out would make that d group solid.

if every dman on our roster moved down 2 pegs they would be a very good defence, the problem is they are playing over thier heads. Petry is a good #2, excellent 3. were playing him as a 1

Edmonton needs to add. Nick Schultz is basically negative value to Edmonton's side.

So the proposal is saying Yak & Klef for all that when I am not sure if Yak & Klef get you McDonaugh..

What is with people thinking the Oilers are going to deal Yakupov for a soon-to-be UFA?

I'd take another crappy season rather than see Yakupov traded at this stage. DON'T TRADE HIM!!!

What about Drew Stafford. rumour is he is on his way out in Buffalo. Despite his recent struggles he is exactly what we need. Send them Marc Roy and a 3rd.

I would actually do this deal...

I mean Krieder is still pretty unproven but once a 6'3" 225lb power forward proves himself, it's impossible to acquire a player like that.

I think Arcobello can be a capable stop gap at center until we can find a replacement for Gagner down the middle.

Change some things up, how about the Oilers go "big" if they soil the sheets tonight.

To NYR: Yakupov, Smid and Arcobello

To EDM: Girardi, Kreider, Boyle and McIlrath
then

To NSH: Eberle, N. Schultz and Corey Potter

To EDM: Josi and Wilson (Colin)

Boom, change.

haha, what? a future 30-35 goal scorer and top-2 dman won't get you a #2 dman?

the rangers make that deal every day of the week and run away laughing

Yak + J. Schultz + Smid for McDonagh + Kreider + Del Zotto

Yak < McDonagh
Smid <= Kreider
J. Schultz > Del Zotto

Lets get real for a minute. The Rangers are not moving McDonagh and they aren't dealing Girardi for Hemsky.
Since MacT speaks so highly about stocking up on puck moving Dmen, i would think that Del Zotto is the player they are coveting. Doesn't fill a need but since when has MacT ever cared about filling the needs. I just hope that it's not a package centered around Yak and Del Zotto. I'm not a big Yak fan but if he's dealt, it should be for a good player or two who fills a need.

Ugh... that deal screams Hodgson for Kassian, but far worse.
