It's been thrown around since his Philly days. His production down the stretch is less than favorable though. If the price is right I'd love to. His 'clinics' would be invaluable to everyone and his work ethic is second to none.

No, not a stupid idea, just not a well thought out one unfortunately. Jagr is a RW. We already have Williams, Carter, Toffoli, Frattin, Lewis and Nolan, so, I don't really see room there for Jagr. And besides, he would cost us a 1st + to obtain him. Other than that, yeah, I would love a Jagr!

Not at all, Jagr would be a perfect fit to this team.

It doesn't really matter if Lewis, Nolan or Frattin are on that wing because Jagr for sure would be an improvement on them. I'd rather stick one in the pressbox so we can play Jagr. I'd even consider him over Toffoli depending on how they are each doing down the stretch.

And he'd cost a 1st pretty much. Last season he cost Boston a 2nd and two depth guys, the 2nd only became a 1st once Boston made the 3rd round.

The Dallas Stars have traded 41-year-old Jaromir Jagr to the Bruins in exchange for a conditional second-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft and two prospects. The conditional second-round pick becomes a first-round selection if Boston advances to the Eastern Conference Finals in this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Those prospects were Cody Payne, a 5th round pick, and Lane MacDermid, who was just traded for a 6th. So, assuming a similar trade is done, it'd cost us a conditional 2nd that could be a 1st, someone like Colin Miller and someone like Andrew Bodnarchuk. Definately not something we couldn't do.

I understand that Jagr would be a better option than Frattin, Nolan or Lewis. But let's be real here, this is Sutter we're talking about. He's going to go with a grinder or two on the RW. Besides, can you really see any of Williams, Toffoli, Carter or Jagr playing 4th line and 4th line minutes?

As for the trade value. Clearly BOS got a sweet deal. We overpaid for RR with two 2nds and BOS underpaid for a better player in Jagr with 2nd ++.

It could be any day now.

Some people imagine it will be within the next two games-three at the most.

The biggest reason Jagr shouldn't become a King, is because by the time he should become a King. He will be broken down again. By the time the playoffs came around last year Jagr was always trailing the play and mostly all he could do was shield the puck.

Anyone remember the Jagr to the Kings trade rumors way back at the 1997 draft? Those were fun times...

bingo....he became essentially a PP specialist late in the season and the PO's. too expensive, too old, which as the seasons wears on will mean less TOI and ultimately less production. what's the point of acquiring a scorer that can't produce, because he's at the end of the bench dying of exhaustion?

i like LA down the RW with 14, 77, 73, 71, 21

Sure Sutter liks is grinders, and his grainders have a role on this eam. But we also know Frattin isn't a grinder. Who would you rather have, Frattin or Jagr? I bet Sutter would like him as well over Frattin. And we all know that Frattin is going to be a regular in the line up. I'd rather see Jagrin Frattin in thepressbox assuming he's still playngthis way down the stretch.

As for the trade, there may or may not havebeen a 'sweet deal.' Who knows, maybe several teams put in a bid on him but no one would beat Boston's offer. We don't know. What we do know is that's the price Boston paid to get him and there s no reason to believe that he'd cost mre or less right no at ths years trae deadline.

As for those sayin Jagr will be too slow/weak/wiped out come the post-season, you may be right. I don't share that pessimism, expecially since this is is last season and I can ee him wanting to go out a winner, not someone weezing on the bench, so he'll be going full out come this playoff. I think Jagr's size and strength would go great in our cycle system, and he's still got the hands to be able to score off of the chances we generate from that style of play. To me he's the perfect fit into our top nine.

Ibelieve he said it when he announced he was coming back for one more year. Something about one last season or somthing to that affect. It was posted on HF someplace, but I don't recall the exact wording nor do I have a link. The impression was this would be it, or least that's the way he was leaning at the time and I haven't heard anything different since.

I'm thinking Frattin's more of a grinder than Jagr, but that's beside the point. My thinking is that Lewis will be one of the RW regardless, so, that leaves Jagr, Williams, TT and Carter to fight over 3 spots.

Could be right, and really wouldn't surprise me. I hope we get a chance to find out.

I really hope Jeff plays today. DL should hand out a notice telling players that if they accidentally shoot at Jeff they will automatically be traded to edmonton.

I think it was Muzzins shot that hit jeff.

Frattin clearly doesn't have the body of a grinder. He played his ass off hitting and drawing about 3 penalties if I recall correctly (game where Sutter called him a racehorse) and his body has been trying to recover ever since (why he isn't on the roadtrip).

This was around the time when there were murmurs that the Pens were financially unstable and the Kings were known to be after a superstar to open up their new building for the start of the '99 season.

Anyhow, word started to spread at the Kings' draft party that year that the Kings were trying to get a deal done involving young players and cash, similar to the deal they made with the Islanders for Palffy.

I believe that the assets in play, or rumored to be involved, were the 3rd overall pick (Olli Jokinen), Jamie Storr and Aki Berg along with cash. Don't know how true or how close to reality this trade was but this predated the widespread sources and rumors that would be all over the Internet today.

Man, good thing that didn't happen. Where would we be today without Jokinen, Storr, and Berg?

I could answer that one for you! Aki Berg actually has had a long lasting benefit for the Kings.

Aki Berg was traded to Toronto for Adam Mair and Toronto's 2nd round choice (Michael Cammalleri) in 2001 Entry Draft on March 13, 2001.

Michael Cammalleri was traded to Calgary by Los Angeles with Calgary's 2nd round choice (previously acquired, Calgary selected Mitch Wahl) in 2008 Entry Draft for Calgary's 1st round choice (later traded to Anaheim - Anaheim selected Jake Gardiner) in 2008 Entry Draft and Calgary's 2nd round choice (later traded to Carolina - Carolina selected Brian Dumoulin) in 2009 Entry Draft, June 20, 2008.

The 2nd round choice the Kings acquired from Calgary was traded with Patrick O'Sullivan for Justin Williams on March 4, 2009.

That's a pretty good payoff for a 1st round bust!

Thanks Ziggy.

I'm just glad we're past the days of the Storr and Berg future. Although to be fair, there was something impressive early in Storr's career. I can't remember exactly what.

Edit:
All-Rookie team twice was it.
I remember making Storr sign that said "JA-MIE" on it for the 98 playoffs (I was 13).
