Even if you would rather have a top defensive prospect in the system you have to hope for the number one pick. Not only because we could use the media attention and superstar center, but because the first pick is so valueable this year you could easily trade down, get JJ and a crap load on top of that. I'd rather trade the top pick to a team like Calgary for Phaneuf and Lombardi(which may or may not work) then to just land in second and get JJ. Or worse not even land in the top 10.
If the Sabres don't win the lottery than I'd love to see Chicago win it.
The Hawks need a star and a healthy Chicago is good for the league. Basically, keep him out of Canada because it won't help the league enough and keep him away from the Rangers, simply because I hate them so much. Washington would be another waste.

Chicago has Ruutu. Not to mention one of the best, if not THE BEST, collection of young defenders in the league.
Since I live in DC, if the Sabres don't get Crosby, I'd love to see Washington get him. This area isn't very CAP friendly but there are a lot of hockey people here that are fans of other teams, like myself. To see Crosby in the Nations Capital along with Ovechkin, Semin and the rest of their rebuilding pieces would be great for the sport. There is lots of money in this area and the NHL would be wise to tap into it.

Washington already has Ovechkin. Is Ruutu really suppose to be that good? And please enlighten me on these great collection of defensemen because I'm in the dark.

Yuck. The thought of the Caps getting Crosby makes me ill. Yes, there are lots of diverse hockey fans and a great share of money in the D.C. Metro area, but as far as Caps fans go, they are some of the worst. I went to school down that way, and I can't imagine that group of fans having Crosby AND Ovechkin for years to come.
